£100/mth for groceries - are you a veggie?0

no we're both carnivores. At the mo we spend in region of £160/month, but that is with more convenience foods than I would like due to being time poor.
obviously for £100, meat intake would be limited. But with time to cook from scratch and batch cook, I'd say getting our spends closer to £100 would be do-able. We have a morrissons and will shortly also have an asda within walking distance of the house, so there would be many a YS bargain to help add variety and interest, one would hope.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

£100 a month on food....oh my ... I only have a waitrose's nearby (god so middle class or what :rotfl: but still.....I can't imagine getting anywhere near that...Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Luckily it's 5+ miles to either of the Glasgow WR, or we would have no savings :rotfl:
We're also [STRIKE]cursed[/STRIKE] blessed with a localish Wh0lefoods.
Planning a fairly quiet day today, brunch with inlaws, grocery shopping and taking down the decorations
Savings interest in, £19.11 to Emergency Fund and £15 to S&S ISA pot. Need to figure out how to split the £1xx I won yesterday, thinking something like 40% to Mrs E, 30% to S&S ISA and the rest to spend on classical music to rebuild my library? It's funny to be buying music as opposed to selling stuff for once, getting some great bargains using 3rd party sellers on Am@zon.0 -
The downloading thing was really funny :rotfl: for a while there, until I read you were repurchasing through Amaz00n and 1TUnes, I thought you meant the other sort of norty download
As for mfw being a terribly moral board, its on an open forum that has to abide by the letter (and probably the spirit!) of the law - I bet all sorts of things are going on that aren't terribly moral, that people just don't write about :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Our locals are Sainsbury's and M&S.
But we are going to travel a bit further to try Asda, Morrisons and Aldi (Lidl is too far to think about)
I'd be happy to get under £200:oEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Filth? Surely not!
Well it definitely feels like the end of the Christmas holidays. I'm now tetchy and bad tempered and am probably not being my usual charming self. Trying to relax now that the shopping and housework is done and I'm loving the smell of the giant pot of SC lentil soup that is on the go (inspired by GG).
PD's comments about shopping got me thinking, you can live well on the cheap if you're willing to stick to largely veggies and the odd bit of cheap fish or meat. I managed to spend a mere £21 for this weeks groceries by sticking to almost all veg, although I'm probably using about £5 of store cupboard randoms as well. Still, it makes you think, we could probably cope on c. £110/mth and still eat healthy meals.0 -
He did mean that sort, surely?
Ed when you go to the dentists next, copy my coward's trick. Neck a couple of paracetamol before you go. Or a bottle of gin!0
