Feel like punching MIL. After hoo ha with naps last week, she has let DD sleep 2 hours later in the afternoon than we ever allow. Result = wide awake baby at 21:00 :mad:0

Oh no! Can she do something active to tire her out?Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Keep your car in the garage. Honestly, you'll thank me in a decade when you've not got rusty sills that your MOT tester kindly pushes a screwdriver through.
A workshop can be part of a large garage or a standalone building, a place to store garden tools is a shed. That's also the place you store old tins of paint etc. I have a study. It is inside the house where it should be.
:rotfl: Re. the TV programme. To be fair they'd likely tell me to spend less on food but not because we eat ready meals. I avoid supermarkets and generally shop at farm shops, butchers, greengrocer or the local market. They'd probably say we eat out a little too often also.Anyhow after last night's temptation, you're responsible for me going to the wine merchants and buying a nice bottle of red to share this evening.

She takes her outside and lets her play in her paddling pool, but that's about it. MIL is an old 60, acts like she's 90 and rarely leaves the house. It's exasperating.Keep your car in the garage. Car is already a little rusty in places. I don't really care, it's 9 years old and was free. If it's still in one piece after 19 years I will dance a little dance.0 -
Are you sure it's not Alex you're financing :eek::eek::rotfl:
No, sorry to disappoint.edinburgher wrote: »Credit?? Credit??!! How vulgah!

Doesn't exactly sound like a stimulating environment for a one year old, to be honest.
Rust proof it and get it out of the elements when you're not using it. No reason a car shouldn't get to 19 years of age. I've got a 1971 Triumph saloon, still with all its original body panels and no welding underneath. 65,000 miles and just as it was when it left the factory save for the odd blemish.Cars last if they are cared for.
...Sure I shouldn't be the one to tell Mr. Frugality this, though.2018 totals:

Oh bleep, Ed! You poor things (I'm thinking of the sleepless thing here) ... it always amazes me how old some people are - after all, anyone who's 60 has grown up *since* the 1960s. Not everyone followed the example of the Summer of Love, but really ... I'm sure she's doing her best, and she is a help, but *she's* missing out too, on having the memory of running about with her little granddaughter2023: the year I get to buy a car0

My grandparents who are mid-80s now apparently became old overnight when they retired. They quit all their social groups like the church choir and just, well, I don't know what they did. Gardened and watched cricket I think!
How terribly boring!0 -
Your MIL sounds very frustrating! I disagree with Alex though, I don't think a 1 year old necessary needs to be "stimulated". Exploring the garden is wonderfully exciting, all those textures, smells, creatures - no need for a grown up to stick their oar in and tell them what to do0

I exhaust my grandchildren when I have them. They get fed up with me not taking turns on the swings and slides and encouraging them to climb dangerously high trees though. And when I showed my knickers to all and sundry on the zip wire they were also very embarrassed.
Would you like me to look after your dd, ed?Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Squirrel, that would be *wonderful*0
