Oh damn - cornered too soon in a multi storey car park and scuffed the side of our wee car! The barrier paint seemed to wipe off with a bit of spit on the end of a finger, so hopefully not too bad (can't see any scuffs). Have some T-cut at home + might be time for a polish anyway
85p Oped, I totally get the attraction although pensions + house are the main focuses this month. Investments always have an air of doubt about them, but there is something quietly wonderful about logging in to online mortgage servicing and seeing your mortgage slowly trickle down0 -

My day went from bad too worse. After cleaning the scuffed paint, there's a piece of paint maybe 6" squared missing at the very bottom of the wheel arch (bare metal). Not sure whether it's worth fixing, doubt we'll have this car for more than another couple of years, tops.
Then on the way home, someone darted into my lane from the left (obviously trying to overtake in the left turn only lane to merge into the ahead lane that I was in). I had to brake suddenly, but didn't quite make it and we collided. No damage to my car, a 3" scratch on the corner of their bumper that may or may not have resulted. Phoned the police, they said it was non-reportable.
Scunnered. Really dented my confidence. How on earth can we move up to a larger car when these things happen in a small car?0 -
It would have happened if you were driving a tank. My father always used to say to me that it wasn't my driving he was worried about it was the other idiots on the road. This morning I had to emergency brake twice for people cutting out in front of me. I had my lights on (it was about 8am) and I have a deliberately bright coloured car. There will always be people who think they own the road - there are just more of them now. I guess we both had a bad driving day, but I won't be letting it get me down (after a few well selected swear words) so don't you.0

Patanne is certainly right; some people's driving is absolutely terrifying. Not so long ago I was in the TR6 with my son driving down an NSL B road, doing about 55mph when a newish Volvo estate pulled out of a junction, completely oblivious to us, forcing me to do an emergency stop. Fortunately, I didn't hit the other car but we were about 3" away from having a crash. Volvo driver did nothing but stare at me, perhaps he thought him pulling out on me was my fault.
The other recent one was on a dual carriageway. A new BMW was driving down the slip road so I moved over into the outside lane, and would be doing about 75mph. He then cut straight across the inside lane and attempted to enter the outside lane without checking his mirror and blind spot, only moving back to the inside lane after I'd warned of my presence. Had he carried on, my car (44 year old Jaguar) wouldn't have stood a chance and I'm fairly certain he would've killed my son and I.
Unfortunately, I think people have got worse and think they're invincible in the over insulated cars of today.
Can't say there's any excuse for car park / reversing into things incidents, though I appreciate no one is perfect and it only takes a momentary lapse in concentration.2018 totals:

Day now beyond a joke, might be in shock
Noticed cheap hub cap was missing after scuff of this morning, stood up to open car door, smacked myself in the head with door. Drove to supermarket, hit a pothole that was more sinkhole and just about crapped my pants. Got to the supermarket. Trolley wheels were !!!!ed
Currently having a easy dinner and a couple of beers on the couch. !!!! dieting tonight.
Tried 'phoning insurance company re this afternoon. Didn't get through, sure they'll call if they need to. I don't see the other person trying to claim.

Ed, I'm sorry to hear about your day. Take care of yourself, its so hard when it's other drivers that cause a collision. It happens to everyone, as long as you and yours are ok - it can take a lot out of you. Wow, Ed sounds like you've had a proper 'mare of a day. I don't blame you for relaxing on the sofa with a few beers. Hopefully that's all the rubbish done and dusted in one day.0
