How did the fish take the move?0

Fish seem happy, have adjusted to their new surroundings and are trying their hardest to avoid the new guppies (nature's sex pests) :rotfl:0

Good news. They are clearly pampered!0

KC is also right to say that much of the old boiler can be recycled, although it won't 'replace' the embodied energy (the laws of physics won't allow it). I think there's a fair argument to be made that the old boiler's embodied energy has been thoroughly amortised after 30+ years.
I'm not too worried that fitting a rated combi boilers is the greatest challenge the planet faces in terms of the embodied energy used to create products. It will use less gas, produce less carbon and will keep the home warmer = win win win.
Now cars... :rotfl:
I'll confess I don't know what embodied energy is. As for it not being able to replace the embodied energy during the recycling process due to the laws of physics... Well, I was never much a scientist.edinburgher wrote: »It is a lot of fun retrofitting a house and it is in good nick to begin with (loft insulation/cavity wall insulation/recent double glazing (2013)). Our contributions will be boiler/under floor insulation where possible/under flooring insulation/low flow water fittings and a complete overhaul of the lighting. For example, our kitchen lighting currently draws in the region of 340W!! I will be disappointed if we can't get that down to 76W or lower. As it stands, this one room uses more power for lights than our far larger tenement flat did with every light on (including multiple chandeliers with 5+ bulbs).
Eco waffle over
Fun and eco waffle? Don't fret, there is help out there and I'm here to share the secret... it's called a V8.Guaranteed to cure all thoughts of hugging that tree you see each day on your way to work.
Oh my, Ed's morphed into Scotty from Star Trek.
Don't know Star Trek but I fully expect to hear news he's been arrested at some Greenpeace rally.2018 totals:

I think I'm a INTJ trapped in an INFJ's brain - the elegance of improved energy efficiency appeals, waste appals. Why pay over the odds to waste energy and create harmful emissions?
I won't even rise to the car comment, I've nothing against cars per se, just my idea of a dream car is more like a Tesla Model S that drives itself.... giving me more time to high five trees out of the window :rotfl:0 -
Isn't it weird the connections a mind makes? The things you and Alex have said about cars are compelling me to ask my sister what actually happened 47 years ago when she borrowed my mini and came back with a great big gouge down one side (I never did really believe her but realised it was because she didn't want our parents to know). We only filled the scar with bodyfiller and never repainted etc. Whilst it was very nippy as it was a de luxe 1000cc!! I used to beat Jags etc and it was 10 years old then. And it did 50 to the gallon. I would love to have that car back now but I suppose the brakes would be somewhat lacking for modern use.0
