I have a huge sheep skin rug in the living room and its looking grubby. Can you shove it in the washer or anything?

I put my daughters on a wool wash and it comes up lovely I just have to brush it when its dry and it looks brand new but it is a size that fits in the washing machine. You say yours is huge would it fit in your washer?0

Hang it on the washing line and beat it. You'll be amazed how much of the muck comes off it.When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

Thanks for your comments. I think I may at a push get into the washer. Its about 6ft by 4ft in size.
I don't think bashing the hoof out of it on a line will get rid of the food spills and general much from having 3 kids - sorry 2 kids and a husband!!!
I will go for a wool wash. Do I use detergent or just the water?0 -
Only a little detergent, I would use a liquid one or make your powder into a liquid before putting it in, especially with it being large. One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -

You can get liquids especially designed for silk, wool etc, and personally I'd hang the expense and go for one of them! I would also give it at least a shake first, never know there might be money hiding in its depths. :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0

I used a washing tablet but its up to you. Also a word of warning they take ages to dry so have a think were you can put it to dry. I usually hang mine over a chair and put it near a radiator but yours is quite large so maybe your shower rail??0

I have a sheepskin rug, brought back from NZ, put it in the washing machine with normal detergent then hang on the line. While its out there and still damp I take the cat brush to it and it comes up beautiful, in fact the sun is shining today and I might just wash it this morning
