NPower - Annual Bill?

I've just been told by NPower that my next bill is due in October this year. The last one was issued in October 2013. I was expecting one in May, but due to "improvements", it's been delayed.
Not happy at all! I'm in credit by a ridiculous amount and it seems totally irresponsible to have an annual bill, regardless of whether the individual is falling into debt or subsidising npower by a high credit.
Energy bills used to be quarterly: how can I return to a quarterly bill?

The billing system used by npower is broken. But even when working they do have only six-monthly billing. If you want quarterly bills you will have to switch supplier.

Do you know what your real balance is? You mention you are in credit but does that include your actual use? It is important that all npower customers check the meter readings used for their most recent (sic) bill and check for themselves what their real real-time balance is approximately. If you have had no bills then telephone to confirm what opening reads they are using.
  • Have you been entering regular meter readings?

I got my 6 month bill in December and my npower account said I wasn't due another until June, but I enter meter readings every month and when I entered them at the end of March I got an automatically generated bill. Unfortunately, npowers billing system seems to work differently for different people though, so it's a bit pot luck.

As 2013yearofthehouse says enter your meter readings and that will generate a bill (eventually).

I joined nPower in 2012 and left them a couple of months ago. I couldn't submit meter readings online because their system wouldn't let me. Repeated phone calls and promises to fix it... nothing.

I haven't had a bill in all that time.

I submit monthly meter readings (sometimes more often) and this has triggered a couple of extra bills now. It also has the advantage that over time the forecast for the rest of the year is getting less ridiculous as I provide more actual data. It still says I am going to use 4 times more elec this July compared to last year but some of the other months aren't quite so far out now.

  • You can get quarterly bills from npower but you may need to switch tariff. They have had problems with the billing system. Still haven't been able to view my Dec bill and next bill was due in June but received one the other day and still saying I'm going to get one in June
