You go with whatever circumstances are there at the time. Sometimes difficult to get across to others but you knew what you needed to do.

OP has obvious health issues which meant she had to get home quickly. Of course under normal circumstances walking very good for preggie ladies. I have a feeling this was not the case here.

that must have been horrible and the wait I had was nothing compared to yours! I am fine and been at the hsopital today and baby is fine too. yes I understand. please give her my warmest regards and I wish her every success in her delivery. Sometimes i want to sit on my sofa for the next few months and not move, but life isnt like that is it? i have to do things and i bet she feels the same.

thank you for your kind words, very grateful for them nice to know people understand.

My medical condition stops me from walking too far , its a serious and potentially live threatening one fo rme and baby. But under normal circumstances ie when not preggi i can walk no trouble. RAC were made aware of this at the first phone call but insisted i needed to walk back to the car to meet them.

I actually had a good experence with the RAC.

I'd been having a really bad day i went to tesco got a trolly load of shopping then realised i'd left my purse at home, i had to phone (from cs cause my phone had no credit and top up card was in my purse) my sister to come and pay for me.

I went to the car and couldn't unlock it the key just wouldn't turn. My rac membership card was in my purse at home.

Luckily my sister was with me and took me to her house to phone oh to go home and get my rac number from my purse and then i phoned the rac.

I told them i had a baby with me and had gone to my sisters house to phone them. They said give me your mobile number and i'll get the guy to ring you when he's 10 mins away and you can get a lift back to the car.

he arrived within about half an hour and i got excellent service. Mind you i don't know what i'd have done without my sister.

i used to be with the greenflag and my car broke down on the m62 at 2am, i called them out and they put me on a priority call out, and as i was on my own on the motorway in the middle of the night, they arranged for the motorway police to come and sit with me , they told it would be upto an hour and a half wait in the fog in the middle of saddleworth moor, the policeman was there in 15 min and the patrol man in 45 min, i was very impressed.

When I was 19 (ooh, many many years ao, LOL) and very nervous and naive as a person, I broke down about 80 miles from home. I was on my own and had not long passed my test and it was my first car. Anyhow I broke down and the AA came out to get me with the low loader and then on our way back home - remember BEFORE the days of owning a mobile - the rather middle aged AA man comes out with 'Ha ha, we could run off together now and no-one would ever know where you are'

I never spoke a word to him after that for fear of giving him the wrong impression!! Scary!!! I will remember that for as long as I live.

On another note though - I am with Tesco breakdown cover and on my way to the Market (work) at 7.00 in the morning, about 6 months ago my clutch cable snapped. The recovery lorry was with me in about an hour, loaded the transit laden with my stock (I was with my sister and 15 year old daughter) and then took us home - in an extremely dodgy truck it has to be said!! Speedo said we was doing 90 MPH and there is no way we was moving more than 30 miles an hour. lights flashing all over the place - it struggled on the hills. I have never been so relieved in getting home!!

If anyone ever breaks down in a supermarket car park, you will find the store should have some sort of break down cover to help their shoppers - so you wouldnt need to call your own provider out.

I personally wouldnt touch the RAC with a barge poll - but for very different reasons - my ex hubby is an RAC man, and knowing what he used to get up to, means i would rather be with a different provider!!!!

AA and RAC are pretty much the same. I've had both and been lucky enough to get excellent service from both. I'm currently with RAC now, been unlucky enough to have them out twice, both times the car was unfixable and had to be towed. One good point about the RAC, they will tow a car to your home and then onwards at a later date to the garage with no charge, so you can arrange for it to go to a garage of your choice during opening hours. I understand that the AA will not do this.
