Pixie Dust

Not sure if I have asked before but does anyone have any ideas for some DIY pixie dust. A 14yr old boy at church has Battens disease. He lost his sight a few years ago because of it and his health is rapidly deteriorating. Each Sunday we chat and each week he asks if I have any pixie dust for him. How can I make this fun for him. I plan to sew a drawstring bag for the dust but would like to add some texture to it other than just glitter.
Any ideas welcome on how I can help him with his request. I know if it's just glitter he will be sprinkling it all over to church! Lol

Does it matter if he sprinkles it all over the church? It'll sweep/vacuum up, even if you have to nip back later to do it.0

That's true, I regularly vacuum after church so a bit of glitter is fine. I am trying to think outside the box and make something fun to put it in but can only come up with a bag. He can't walk much now so I can imagine his buggy having a trail of glitter behind it. If I could think of a Pixie Dust Experience I would try put it together. XNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

The only problem with glitter is it is toxic to birds and wildlife. If he'll only sprinkle it inside it is fine. You can get edible glitter for cakes, though.0

If you have a look on pinterest ( http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=mason%20jar%20glitter ) you will see lots of ideas for putting glitter in jars. I've also seen a few instructions on pinterest about how to do this using glow sticks as well which would make the jar glow in the dark.
Hope this helps0 -
what about some of the shaped confetti you see in card shops, not wedding confetti, the harder stuff, like stars etc that you'd sprinkle on table tops - the ones they often have with shaped ages in, but something that might interest him like stars, or cars, or something else he's interested in that he could feel the shape of if he's lost his sight....0

The glow sticks wouldn't work for him as he is now totally blind but the glitter in a jar and the shaped confetti is a brilliant idea. I need to make it tactile for him.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

could you make edible pixie dust with popping candy? If he's blind, it might be fun for the taste?0

Sethsgran, you sound like a lovely lady, this post in itself has helped restore my faith today. I have, this week, encountered so many occurrences of nastiness by people, your thoughtfulness for this little lad has made me realize there are still some lovely people in this world! I hope that both the little lad in question, and the other people in your life that you are kind to, appreciate your thoughtfulness!0

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am truly blessed with my friends and family. I think of the words of my father in laws favorite hymn. One line is ... Because I have been given much I too must give.
I am so sorry that you have been hurt recently. Where possible surround yourself with people you like. Take care, hope next week is better for you. XNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
