thanks again, have just put verdone extra on lawn, hopefully the right way, and will see in a few days if i am onthe way to a weedless lawn or a bare patchy wilderness.

To start with it will be bit of both especially if your lawn is covered with dandelions.

You should notice the leaves withering tomorrow and will slowly die away. You will then probably be left with some bare patches so you might need to some grass seed.

You need to apply the Verdone Extra every year (I once missed a year and regretted it).

Six children - 1p per dandelion flower in extra pocket money
Week one cost me a fortune but subsequent weeks it's a bargain - and 1/2 hour of entertainment too

aims for 2014 - grow more fruit and veg, declutter

    Green bits to the Chickens.

    Yellow bits for wine.

Too many pesticides being used and the lawn helps plenty of useful things survive. Granted my neighbours lawn looks much nicer than mine but I have hundreds of slow worms, frogs, toads, bees, worms, beetles etc

Worry less and open a bottle of dandelion wine. Not got any? Make some :)

Another tip is don't cut the grass too short. The shorter the grass, the more chance for weeds to seed and grow. Also, a slighter longer lawn will stay greener during dry periods.

Thanks again for the advice, I always think people should come back and update. I used verdone extra a few weeks ago, left it a week and then cut grass. A week or so later not a daisy or dandelion to be seen when before verdone lawn was about 50 % weeds.

Will be using it every year. Great advice all :-)

Just watch that the kids don't start cultivating more dandelions to earn some more money!
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I know this isnt of any help to you, but I like seeing dandelions and daiseys in the grass. I keep my grass cut short and within 2 days I have dandelions and daiseys back again in some parts, not all, but they are really short in the grass and I think look lovely.
I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:

Buy a daisy howker. The best £4 you'll ever spend.
