In answer to the question - yes it can backfire. Freepost generally only covers letters up to a certain size so people sending big boxes of bricks etc would find that the recipient would be covered by the abuse protections in the Freepost scheme and it would be Royal Mail picking up the cost. Freepost is a useful system used by many organisations - if people start abusing it, it will get withdrawn and next time you need to send something to your bank etc, you'll either have to find the pre-paid envelope they sent you or pay for the postage yourself (which probably means finding somewhere to buy a stamp).

Well I for one have voted this as a SPAM thread.

I do hope others follow suit otherwise I would have to start asking the OP questions, like in what way was the flyer racist, because I very much doubt it was.
