Then that was probably the point where you could have argued they had stopped trying. As you negotiated a discount with them instead I'd say you reached an agreement.

This is what I thought. I think it will be tough for OP to get out of the contract.

But I was fine with that agreement. What I am not fine with is them putting my price up with the recent announcement - now they're wanting to charge me more than what I agreed.

As I reached the agreement with them, surely the normal terms and conditions don't apply?

You would be best joining the thread about the price increases (if you haven't already). This does not change the rest of the terms and conditions you have with them. If their price rise is legit, then you will get a 50% discount on the new price.

The normal Ts&Cs still apply, in effect they just gave you a goodwill payment as they couldn't fix the mast. This doesn't automatically disregard all the other terms.

Mobile phone contracts are not fixed price, and they can go up (though hopefully not so much now). Page 8 of the link that Anoneemoose provided talks about this.

There are a couple of threads on here about price rises and Ts&Cs changes. Have a read of them and it may give you some ideas about where you can go with this.
