CapitalOne 3 month 4% cashback deal anomoly

The 3 months start from when you apply for the card.

It takes about a week for the cards to come through, then you have to wait for the PINs

So their 3 month deal is really 2 months and 2 weeks. We have written to them to point out this honest mistake of theirs.

technically it's not an anomaly, as it's how the majority other card providers 'intro offers' work..:D

Or course you can ask them to up the percentage to 4.33% to make up for the lost time ;)

It wont start from when you apply for the card, it will start from when its been accepted and the actual account has been setup.
So yes, you will lose out on 7-10 working days that it takes to recieve the card. We are still waiting for ours.

You can still use it, but just not with "chip & PIN".

I signed up yesterday and when I queried it I was told that the 3 months runs from activation (I don't have a PIN but I could still order things over the phone).

I don't always believe what call center people tell me though (the guy did go off to check) so I can't guarantee this is right.

Received my card start of last week and the PIN arrived 4/5 days later, just before the weekend. Had no problems with my first transaction at the supermarket :T Hope the 3 month 4% cash rebate does start from activation of the card

I would assume (could be wrong here) that it will run for 3 complete statement periods and that they will generate the first statement about 10 days after they send out the card. This would allow time for the card and PIN to reach you just before the three months begins. You might be able to use it a few times BEFORE the start of this time as well. This was my experience with the last Captial One card I had - 0% for 18 months - the '18 months' actually corresponded to first 18 complete months but I got the card, did the transfer, and got a 'first' statement about a week later.

I activated my card yesterday (10/07) and when I queried this, I was told that the three months started when my account was opened (04/07).

Yep, this is exactly why I don't believe call center people.

Initially I was told 4/7 then he went away to check and came back and said 10/7.

My card arrived in yesterday's post and was activated yesterday. Also set up the payment DD! Only awaiting PIN.
