Have no idea how you got to where you say, Ive just googled "motorcycle insurance" and no where on the results is MSE, I suspect you are confusing it with another site as dunstonh says. Could you maybe have clicked on the link taking you to the section on the MCN site ?

Money Saving Expert doesn't appear in the first page of Google results, so I think you are confusing your acronyms, and thus blaming MSE for an issue that it didn't cause.

The first link is to Compare the Market, the second is to MCN and the third is for Money Supermarket. None of these are directly linked to MSE.

Apart from the fact that Moneysupermarket own MSE maybe?

Google's algorithms have changed a lot in the last year or so and there is much more "personal" results.

If I google what my former company does on my computer on Chrome it comes on the first page, if I google it on a public computer using IE I'd be lucky if its in the first 20 pages (technically they'd be lucky as i sold that company)

It looks like I have fallen foul of this scam by Performance Direct (Grove & Dean).
I found them via MSE - - MoneySupermarket - - Performance Direct.
I filled in all the fields correctly for Motorcycle Insurance, received quotes and chose PD, not the cheapest but they offered what I needed, I then paid by debit card Visa in full.
I was called by PD (the chap was polite and patient) and after being kept "on hold" a number of times while my quote was referred, he informed me they were happy to provide insurance minus a really important element!
I reasoned that as they were offering something very different to what I'd paid for, I should be able to cancel the policy (the vehicle was insured continuously by my previous provider) and be reimbursed in full.
This was when he said the cacellation would cost me 55GBP!
I'm now going through the Complaints Procedure to reclaim a dishonest charge.

I have since read many reviews by people caught in the same way and it seems Performance Direct (Grove & Dean) have a business model based on making money purely by taking clients money first then engineering a cancellation - watch this space as I'm chasing a full refund.
