Thinking about switching to Sim only

I'm on 3 and have been for 10 years but I've realised that I'm paying £35 per month for an S3 with unlimited calls and internet and 500 texts but I'm using less than 50% of that and my upgrade is due soon.
I don't actually need a state of the art phone as long as I can call, text, go online and watch I player and You Tube etc and download them to my phone.
I'm wondering if I'm cheaper buying a Pay as you go phone like a Samsung Fame for 60 quid and then getting a sim only deal at £12 a month which will still give me loads of free minutes and internet.
Does this seem like a good deal?

SIM only is the way to go.
Whatever deal you get pay another £20-£25 a month into a savings account and every 2 years you can buy an unlocked I-Android-Windows flagship device!!0 -
Going from an S3 with a 4.8" screen to a Fame with 3.5" might be a bit of a shock though...*** This Space For Rent ***0

Why not keep the S3?0

Keep the S3, I'd imagine the Fame's 320 x 480 HVGA resolution would get you down pretty quickly as would the performance. Get Three to move you to a SIM only deal. Seems pretty simple and cannot fathom why you'd want to buy a budget phone when you already own a decent smartphone, if you must by a budget phone there are better out there for £100 or less.

I agree, keep the S3, go sim only and save money0
