Hi I'm in a similar postion we're currently with sky for calls & broadband but our internet is so slow (about 1.5mb) and now my 4 yr old is online too I though it was time to get fibre.

EE has a great deal where you pay line rental upfront £132 then £10.50 for 6 months then £21 for 12 months this includes all calls in the uk and 30+ countries and 1000mins to mobiles (something we often get caught out on)

Add to this that quidco give you £100 cashback or you can get £120 amazon voucher through this site the total cost comes to £438 / £418 for 18 months.

Typically 10 mins after I switched online Sky called and are offering free line rental and half price fibre for 6months to keep me, which works out at £375 inc calls for 18 months (although no mobile calls are included)

Its annoying sky didn't offer me this when I phoned them 3 days ago for my MAC code, maybe they though I was bluffing!

Another tip for you is BT who if you order through quidco give you £100 cashback + 100 sainsburys voucher and their deal works out at £435.84 for 18months, however, you're limited to 40gb download a month & there's no mobile calls included, you do get their sports channels free though.

    hope this helps

Thanks. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to pay the line rental in advance, haven't got the money at the moment, had my work cut so only on half pay. I quoted the Quidco offer to retentions but to get it, they said they would have to cut me off then reinstate me which would mean I could have a period with no Broadband. I can't do that as I need broadband for work. The deal they gave me works out better than the six months at £10.50 then £21 a month. I told them I am accepting it for the time being but will use my 14day cooling off period to see if I can get a better deal elsewhere. They said that was the best they can do, but we'll see.
It still works out a lot less than I am paying at the moment, so I am quite happy about that and my speed is so slow at the moment its a nightmare.
I looked at the BT deal but don't like that, I don't want the cap, the call package isn't anywhere near as good and I don't want the sports channels, so not for me.

    hi,
yes they have given you a good deal, maybe you should ask them what they could do on the lower speed fibre (38mb) unless you really need the 78mb (hd downloads)

while i'm typing this sky have called me again and i'm on hold while they try to lower their costs even more, I love this bartering its like being at a market in morocco!

    good luck

I was all set to move to PlusNet since my EE Broadband contract ends in June. I rang for my MAC and was asked why I wanted to leave. I told them about the PlusNet deal - top tier fibre, weekday evening and weekend phone calls for around £34 a month. EE agreed to the same deal for £31.40 a month. Since I've been very happy with EE Broadband over the last 18 months I decided to go ahead. I lose out on the 9 months half price PlusNet offer (worth a net total of £44.40) but over 18 months I at least get that back with the EE deal being £2.60 a month cheaper than PlusNet.

I'm pleased, things stay the same here but with an increase in bandwidth. Currently on the lower tier fibre package I get 36.67 Mbps, I so I reckon I should get a pretty excellent speed on the higher tier package.
