New Provider- Unknown and without consent

Hi everybody, I will try to keep this as short as possible whilst giving as many details as I can.
In a nutshell, I came to the end of my contract with TalkTalk and my offer of free line rental had ended. This pushed my monthly price up sky high and I couldn't afford it, so figured that I would approach TalkTalk and ask if there was anyway to renew my offer, or failing that could I please have my MAC code in order to switch to a different provider that could offer the same service cheaper. The man I spoke to was quite aggressive and wouldn't really let me speak. When I wouldn't accept £2 discount for 2 months (My current bill for Line Rental, Anytime calls, and Broadband is £48 because of living in the highlands) he told me that I should leave and go elsewhere. I told him that would be fine and could he advise me of my disconnection date in order for me to approach other companies and set up a new service to coincide with the termination. He told me that it would be the 1st of May and that they don't provide any MAC codes as they are no longer needed. I asked him if it were possible to extend this until the 27th of May as that is when I have paid in advance until. He told me this was fine- but I didn't have much confidence as he kept trying to tell me that I was still in contract until 3rd March 2014, which I kept pointing out had long since passed. He stated that I would receive an email confirming everything, along with my MAC code enclosed (hmm?) I have yet to receive any emails etc. Anyway, I am rambling- but this morning I decided I would phone TalkTalk to clarify the dates before I would begin the process of setting up new services elsewhere. The very polite man I spoke to this morning confirmed that my services are to be switched off tomorrow, 1st May- and that they have received notification (Twice, once last night at 10:15pm and once this morning at 6:21am- bearing in mind that I haven't spoken to any companies except for TalkTalk since yesterday lunchtime) that another provider will be taking over my services with immediate effect. Now this really does concern me as I haven't actually moved my services to anybody, I have done an online quote from a comparison site, but I never clicked on any pages, or selected anything, and certainly not agreed to anything- all I did was put in my phone number and postcode, no other details whatsoever. Is there any way I can find out who this new provider is meant to be, as I haven't recieved any email from any potential companies, nor phonecalls or letters etc. I haven't a clue what services I am meant to have been signed up for etc, and I am worried that there's a possibility that this has been done on my behalf in the last 24 hours, although I don't technically want to point fingers, but I know I certainly never signed up for anything... any help or advice would be greatly appreciated at this time of mild to moderate panic! Thank you

It isn't possible for another provider to take over from Talk Talk with immediate effect as the process to transfer to a new provider takes 10 working days minimum.
Has your telephone exchange recently been unbundled?
If it has the order may be Talk Talk moving you from BT wholesale kit to there own LLU service. You can check if there is LLU at your exchange here.

HI Spyhunter, thank you for your reply. No it hasn't been unbundled I'm afraid, all of the LLU Operator Presence options on the right also say Not Available. The Broadband Availability states:
Broadband availability overview
ADSL: Yes
SDSL: No
LLU services: No
Cable: No
Wireless: No
I just find it so strange that I tried to terminate services yesterday with a disconnection date of 27th May, but lo and behold, the CS Operator that was having a bad day decided to put it through as the 1st May, and now all of a sudden, on the same day, later that evening- a new provider has been contacted and set up on my behalf. I haven't contacted anyone, I don't know what services I've been signed up for, who with etc. I feel completely useless at the moment as I don't even know which company to contact to cancel the forthcoming contract with, and if it takes time for services to be set up, I can't call anyone or get online in the mean time to try and find any answers to the dilemma0 -
how did you get the notification and did it not give any contact details? My Signature is MY OWN!!0

Hi Slenderkitten, it was TalkTalk that received the notification that my services were being transferred elsewhere (meant to be today sometime). When I had called to renew or cancel on Tuesday, I wasn't overly confident that the 27th May had been put through as the disconnection date, so yesterday morning I had called to confirm the date so that I would have a definite idea of when I wanted to have everything sorted out for. It's purely by chance that I found out that another provider has requested for the transfer of my services by my calling to confirm dates. When I asked TT, they say that they have 2 notifications of this transfer, however they don't have any information regarding the details of who the new provider is. Unfortunately I haven't received any calls, emails, letters etc from this mystery provider welcoming or advising of my order details etc- so I have no idea who to contact to cancel and query where this order was placed. I know it sounds like a big mess, but I am still scratching my head as I don't know where to even begin with it all. I called TT again today to try to obtain a MAC code so that I could try to undo whatever has been done by selecting my own provider, in the hopes that it may override the current transfer, but TT tell me that it would take 5 days from when I requested it (Tuesday).0
