EDF total scam
I'm having a right to do with CS, my bill for gas and electric has soared due to their mistake, I'm fuming they took nearly £300 pound out last week and left me in debt, so couldn't feed my son who's disabled, so got them on the phone after more than 25mins on hold!!
Get told as a good will gesture they'll refund the money (although it'll take upto 5 days), and the bill will remain the same (ie as though I'd paid the instalment).
That was okay with us so thought RESULT! Should of realised as looked at my account the next day and the amount on my bill had gone up over £250, then 2days later another £250 or so was added, and thought what's going on, just didn't get it, so today they were rung yet again!!!
My bill is now just over £1010, it'll probably be more tomorrow no doubt....sighs....got told the amount refunded had gone back onto my bill, which wasn't the agreement, I thought a good will amount was exactly that something that I wouldn't have to pay back!! Anyway after speaking to the arrogant CS advisor if you can call him that, I got the line manager, who is now going to listen to the original phonecall so now I await her call back to find out if we pay them yet again or they pay us (chance will be a fine thing).
Any help and advise would be most appreciated.. Thankyou

I can't decipher what on earth is the problem here, sorry. You'll have to break it down. Have you been paying them DD's regularly? What exactly is their mistake?0

Really? You thought as a goodwill gesture they would give you £300 gratis? Not just not charge you for a late payment or let an instalment ride for a month or quarter?
The goodwill gesture was to refund the cash back into your bank account - it was not to write off the payment. (In what way was the original demand a 'mistake'?)
What is your real balance (ignoring goodwill gestures)? £1010? £760? £1200?
Do you have an arrangement to pay monthly or quarterly? In cash or by standing order or direct debit?
What the temporary balance is at (even if it is a mistake) is neither here nor there - it will work out in the end. What matters is your payment arrangement to pay for your fuel. Even with a £760 balance that is still £63 on top of usage to pay back (in fact, it is double that since you also have to pay back extra to pay what you were using.)
This means you have £126 to add to your previous instalment each month to clear your bill within a year. If this is too much you have to contact them ask for a longer arrangement.
You also have to monitor your meters and check how much you are using and to put money aside if you find you are overspending.
(It may be more sensible for you to scrabble together five or six hundred pounds over the next month or two to clear the balance with a one-off payment rather than have much higher payments for more than a year.)0 -
They didn't charge us for gas for a whole year initially, we didn't realise as we thought the duel direct debit they were taking was for both gas and electric, so they put us a year behind which by end of last year we had nearly paid off. Then we get our march bill and it's soared, ok over winter months I know we all use more, but the final figure at 09.30 today stood at £1010.00.
As for refund/goodwill gesture, the way it was described we wouldn't have to pay that back, that amount was £285, but today got told we will have to pay it and it was £260 then £249, so still confused as to how much they're refunding until it goes back in the bank.
We take most measures of saving as much as possible, but savings have basically vanished now, use A and A+ rating appliances etc! energy saving etc! think next step is going to advisory and possibly ofgem.
We're paying an agreed payment of £190 a month now as that is the maximum we can afford what with everything else on top0
