This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

Have tried to get the day and the date correct today, to avoid confusion for myself and everyone else! Can't believe it's the last day of April already, where has the month gone?

Found 3 packs of YS "posh" sausages in the freezer so am considering what I can do with some of those for tonight.

All those positive vibes still heading the way of Mr and Mrs LW and lots of hugs too x

Usual dash and will pop back later to catch up on news.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone else who needs/just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning all
Very wet & misty here today, we had a real downpour yesterday & a few parts of our 'new' roof failed & we had indoor running water in some places.
Stress levels seem to be rising at work, I've had a few staff in tears in my room.
I made a batch of juice y'day, beetroot peeled but with the leaves, plus orange & ginger, very nice.
Hugs to those in need,
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning I'm new :)

Been suffering from no sleep and a lot of anxiety which has lead me to this forum reading everything. Woke up this morning after my first full nights sleep in a long time so happy I could cry.

I decided today would be the day I contribute! Here I am ready to get my first old style badge. Today is payday but instead of going food shopping we're going to continue using up what's in the cupboards. (First month in a long time there's anything left by payday)

Morning everyone
:hello: Lemonbee and any other newbies, welcome aboard, pull up a chair.

Sorry just had to read back to mid-Monday, life somehow got in the way.

LW sorry to hear your concerns, positive vibes for Mr LW winging your way, together with a lick from Skye, and a few spoons from me.

Popped over to Hull yesterday to catch up with friends, eat out at a nearby Crown Carvery we have used before, it was packed, but while OK I wasn't impressed and I am usually a Carvery person. Thought the meat portion was small and not very tasty, (Pork), no Beef Mon-Weds. Yorkshire Puds tough, Cauliflower Cheese, well it was more a white sauce than a cheese, certainly could taste cheese in it, and very little of it too. Think I must do a chicken & bacon pasts bake tonight to use up some of the fridge, time flying fast to Saturday and haven't started packing yet, but think I know what I am doing by now!! Cheered myself up by looking at the Weather forecast for Spain, 22-23C with either sun or sun/cloud, think I can cope with that.:rotfl::cool::rotfl:

Molly41 how are you progressing after your Op. BBrain. Lovely to hear from you. Hope you are progressing OK.
Jackie0. Nice to hear you are back home, and improving, as your DD's say, take it steady!
TTFTM Pleased your DD is getting help.
Judi hope you feel better soon
Sorry brain died, so (((hugs)))), Spoons, and positive vibes all round, grab a handful if you would like them. Take care everyone. DG

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy, and overcast. Dry at the moment so have put the washing on the line.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta, clean bowls all round. Treats from the tins for those that had room. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, it’s now in the fridge, so tonight we’ll be having roast chicken, mash, veg, LO Yorkshires and gravy.

Yesterday at work was another nightmare day, we’re just so busy at the moment – we don’t know where the customers are coming from, they just keep arriving! Was absolutely shattered when I got in last night, hoping that today may be a little less busy although we had 3 people wanting to be seen last night and we had to advise them to come back another time (all said they would be back first thing this morning) as all the advisors had customers and we wouldn’t get time to see them before close of business. I’m really pleased I’m only working until lunchtime today, then not back again until Tuesday of next week due to being closed on Monday. Some of our being busy is due to be shut next Monday and 1st of the month tomorrow. We’ll see what today brings.
Had some more good luck on the online gaming – waiting for the winnings to hit the bank account. Also waiting to see if there’s any ppi refunds to come back, not holding out much hope, but there should be something.
I will do all the normal chores once I get home from work at lunchtime. I’ve been doing a load of washing each evening and putting it out on the line the next morning, so wash basket only has enough for a small wash in it, DS2 has PE today so will wait until he comes home tonight and put his kit in to make the wash to a full load.

Haven’t seen/heard from my friend for a few weeks, she may come over after school for coffee. Her life still very much from being sorted but no doubt if she visits she’ll update me on how things are. I just feel so sorry for her son, he’s 6 months younger than my DS2, life can’t be much fun for him.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all,

Beautiful day here and I have the day off ! will make the most of it and get some washing on the line.

DD and I are off to Portsmouth, she needs to buy herself an outfit for summer ball it wont be a dress though there are all sorts of fairground rides at the ball so she wants some kind of smart shorts and nice top to wear. We also have to drop her assignment off on the way.

I made a lovely pasta dish last night, with crème fraiche and steamed asparagus it was really tasty but I made it up as I went along and don't know if I could replicate it again !

Welcome to Lemonbee, and hugs to all in need.

Have good days all xx

Good Morning

Welcome Lemonbee!

Overcast here today, yesterday it reached 20 degrees and was glorious although I did overheat at one point!

Dinner last night was spag bol from the freezer so nice and simple, chicken stir fry tonight I think.

Off to work in a mo, haircut after so I may look semi decent for the wedding on Saturday (still not keen on going).

Hugs to all if needed, thinking of you LW.

Take care. XX

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good morning everybody,

Welcome Lemonbee :)
Sympathy re the not sleeping, leaves you feeling grotty.I'm the same at the moment,I have PLE,a kind of reaction to sun/UV which makes you itch like mad, went outside last week without sun cream for just a few minutes with a T shirt on,now my arms and chest have a lovely rash which usually takes a week to go
Nice to see you're back ButterflyBrain but get enough rest.
More posivibes for Mr & Mrs LW,and anyone else in need.

DH & DS off to work early, theyre back on the site an hours drive up the motorway so I got up too, went in the spare room during the night due to hubby snoring.

Tea last night was a bit of a mishmash cos I'm trying to use up a lot of the contents of my chest freezer before(fingers crossed ) we move so DSons had breaded fish & chips & we had beef & chorizo stew.DGD was here too but she didnt want any tea apart from a piece of toast, think she must have had something earlier at home. DS2 is at the gym tonight so is having tuna pasta salad that he made last night,he's taken some for his dinner at work today as well, which means I can use the smallish pie I found in the freezer for us.

The new shredder will be back in action today, did a big bag yesterday,DH was very impressed :DRemind me to keep on top of it & not let years worth pile up :o.I need to go to the P.O and send off some forms for the solicitor this morning,& send DS2s passport off recorded delivery to his solicitor.I sent a CPP letter off yesterday, won't be much but better in my pocket.

I have a bag of cook books to give to my dogwalking neighbour, she's asked if she can look before they go to the charity shops, suits me,less for me to carry. She's also had a sneaky look in our skip (nearly full now :D)and got a couple of things out and had 2 surplus garden chairs.

Right better get moving, have good days all x

Morning :hello:

Hello Lemonbee  Coffee? :coffee: :D

I haven't slept well lately, not sure why? I've tried to keep busy during the day so I'll sleep at night but I'm going to bed at 10ish and waking up at 1.30am. I gave up yesterday, sat down to have lunch and didn't bother getting back up again :D Funnily enough, I had a good night's sleep last night.

My latest blanket is coming together quickly, just as well because I want it done by sunday.

I've been sorting out my yarn, I've got a few good colour combos. I've ordered a bit more, you can never have too much :D

I've done a lot of work in the garden, it looks tidier than the house, lol. I'm going to have to empty the freezer just for the borlottis and broad beans :D I've been repotting the houseplants too, they look much better.

My sciatica has been playing up lately. I've started doing pilates again, it's really helping. And because it's helping, I want to do the longer sessions on the DVD :D But I'm making myself start slowly, I KNOW that if I do too much too soon, it'll aggravate it.

Have a good day. That's an order :D

PS does anyone know where I can buy bread that's made with non-GM flour? I heard a radio program about it the other day and have decided to experiment.
