i bought 2 carpets for £240 at the end of october, for my new flat and had payed & arranged for them to be fitted. i then had terrible problems with damp and was getting large puddles appear on my floors, so i cancelled the arrangements for the fitting. i have finally got the housing association to solve this problem (end of april) i have contacted the place were i bought the carpets and was told that i owed them £240 for storage costs. can they charge me this money?? as i cant afford to pay again., i feel like the carpet company are just trying to rip me off:mad::mad::mad: please help as this has cost me much frustration:(:(:(

Did they ever mention any storage costs?
Looks like their charging roughly £10 per week.
Six months does seem like a long time to ask a company to store an item for you without expecting anything in return.0 -
is it just ok for them to add this charge, is it legal?? seems very expensive ty0

Again, how did the original conversation go with the company when you asked them to store the goods?
What communication have you had with the company within the last 6 months?0 -

So how did the conversation go?
You had it agreed to be installed at the end of October. What was said when you phoned up to cancel the installation?0 -
Without agreeing a price with you in advance, no they can't just decide on a price.
It's no different to a misdelivered order that a company doesn't come to collect. You don't have rights to charge them for storage.0 -
i phoned and explained my situation with the damp. i asked for the delivery /fitting to be cancelled. i said that i would contact them to arrange a new date for the fitting, when i had sorted things out. i dont remember being told anything about a storage fee. thanks for all your help people0

So apart from calling them at the end of October to cancel the fitting, when did you next contact the company?0 -

My bold.
Coincidence?
Are the Housing Association in any way liable given that the carpets could not be fitted due to the (possibly?) uninhabitable condition of the flat?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
