    Again, you have misread and misunderstood the legislation. There are many caveats of age, mileage, cost, etc., etc. on a second hand cars worth: However nowhere in the legislation does it say a trader MUST (your capitals) repair a car.
    During the first six months the onus is on the trader to prove the defect was not present at point of sale, thereafter it is the consumers.
    Defect. Not something is about to wear out, not something that could be broken or damaged in service.
