Maturing Santander Major ISA transfer?

Am I right in thinking there's no way other than using the transfer form process to transfer the maturing Major ISA to the new 123 2 yr ISA?

That it cannot do it over phone or online, except for upgrades?

Have you already sent in your forms?

I think I have seen people saying they just called Santander. Check out the 123 ISA thread.

    Santander say:
Existing fixed rate ISAs are eligible to upgrade within 28 days of maturity. If your cash ISA is due to mature we will have recently sent you a letter confirming the maturity date. Your product details and new interest rate will change with immediate effect following the ISA upgrade being processed. If you do not wish to upgrade your account now, please submit your request at a later date
I'm not going to request a transfer until I see the interest and the golf bonus added to the account.

I thought Santander could do all transfers over the phone even from other organisations
  • I thought the online 'upgrade' option is the same as transferring the existing 2 year option to the new product isn't it?

I just tried to do it with mine but it failed due to 'technical problems'.

I did mine quite painlessly over the phone, the new ISA was open within hours. The transfer will take place as soon as the interest is added.

I already have a 123 2yr FRISA opened then transferred in from elsewhere since about mid March. This is bigger than the maturing Major ISA. I wasn't sure if the online 'upgrade' option would move 'Major' money into the existing 123 FRISA or into a new one (its this latter option I want).

My 4.1% Major ISA also expired 1st May. On the 6th April I had set up the new Santander 123 ISA expiring May 2016 on the phone and at the same time arranged to have the balance from the expiring one transfer into the new one when it expired on 1st May. The CS Assistant assured me it was all set up and would happen immediately on expiry. Today I checked my online account and saw the interest had been credited as of today but the transfer had not gone through, phoned them up and they said its all set to go through but it takes 2 working days for any transfers internally, and so it won't go through until Tuesday now. So that's 3 days where I will miss out on the higher interest rate. I know its peanuts but its the principal of it. The CS Assistant I spoke to seemed proud it would only take 2 working days, because it used to apparently take 15 days. In theory I gave almost a month's notice for the transfer so that should have covered the 15 days anyway.

Its also disappointing to see on another thread here today that Santander managed to transfer a maturing major ISA for someone else to Barclays today on the same day but are not able to manage it internally to another Santander account for 2 working days....not impressed at all

On a similar note, today I phoned to get my matured Major "Upgraded" :rotfl:. This was done easily enough on the phone and showed on the screen right away. Fine.

A bit later I looked at the stuff in my file for another 2.3% 123 FRISA transferred into in March 2014. Looking back - well there wasn't any, other than the application I printed off, the copy transfer form, and a letter from Santander to say the transfer was complete. It seems that 'someone' hadn't processed the paperwork through to me. Bloody 'ell!! So that is being fixed (apparently) with an email from the CS person to the dept responsible.

Just as gizz_mo, I phoned to query the transfer not happening.
I hit a brick wall, as I failed the security questions. Well, one of the questions.
It was obvious which one, (although they wouldn't tell me which one) as they asked me to repeat my national insurance number.

After repeating it a second time, I was told they couldn't help or speak to me any further.
I was told to go into a branch to get help.
I did actually arrange the transfer in a branch, so an assistant actually filled the form out.

I popped round to the local branch and lo and behold, they had entered my national insurance number incorrectly.
