iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake button replacement program
Options
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, I did do a quick search but couldn't see a thread.
Apple have finally decided that certain iPhone 5's have known issues with the Sleep/wake button and are now going to replace them - for FREE!:j
Further details can be found here on Apple's site:

Amazingly, I only said to my wife last night about sending my phone off to get my button fixed via the insurance as it was getting worse in the last month or so.. couldn't believe my luck tonight!
Enjoy

Isn't this what warranties are for? I don't see why you seem surprised. I'm glad they are fixing it for you though.0

Sorry I should add, my warranty ran out in February this year. The sleep/wake button is a complex part to fix according to the people I saw in the Apple Shop a few weeks ago when I went in to get my battery replaced. They quoted me over £200 for this button to be fixed. My insurance likes a £100 excess so to get this for free (after checking my serial number against their system) is a blessing0

I have taken my 19month old very worn phone to be repaired under this scheme, they have given me what I would describe has a new looking reconditioned iphone 5 16gb (same model as mine)
They say if I don't collect my phone I can keep the replacement and they will keep mine.
As anyone taken there's and collected their fixed phone, is it your phone or a new phone?0 -
I think you'll get back your old phone with the button/connector replaced. Otherwise they could just hand you a new refurbished phone when you came in to see them (that's what they usually do anyway).0

Mine is eligible but the button seems ok. It's a little stiff but no real problems. Reluctant to replace phone as I have very precious things on it such as the last text messages I recieved from my dear late friend which are obviously irreplaceable so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays ok.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

If you back your old phone up using iTunes and then restore the back up to the replacement it will be an exact copy of the old phone, including text messages.
If you tick the "encrypt backup" box it will even save and restore all passwords to the new phone.====0 -
Just to confirm, you get everything back on the backup, including texts.
Think I will be keeping this replacement phone, even the apple guy smiled when he gave it me and explained the procedure.
I suppose if you have a 5s 64gb you won't want to keep a 16gb standard 50
