My EDF-Ovo switch has gone through without any problems so far.

Hi macman, are your DDs going to be the same throughout the year, or do you expect them to be higher in the winter with Ovo?

The first time I tried it took me back to the log in screen. Second time I tried it changed it. If it won't work just give them a call tomorrow :)

Hi I phoned this morning... All switched over now :-)

I got a letter from EDF today saying "switch to our July 2015 tariff now, it's our cheapest tariff" all in big full colour eye-catching graphics, lots of persuasive info and then in tiny small print at the bottom of the second page, it says "may not be our cheapest tariff for you" haha :)

I haven't been with EDF for almost 2 years, guess they're just scouting for old cumtomers (bit late to try really, my tariff ended yesterday so I'm already in the middle of a switch between 2 other suppliers, not that I would have gone with them as still too expensive in my case).

    Thanks for the replies

I have stuck with EDF and done the August 2015 plan

I guess some people just prefer to pay over the odds.

and there was me thinking this site was all about trying to save money

Agreed that is the purpose of the site but, as in my own case, and reading some of the grief involved with swaps to some of the newer startups, for the sake of £65 which is about four percent of my spend. I do not have time in my life to spend hours on phones or email chasing resolutions.
I too have movedwithin EDF to EDF BPP Aug15 and I shall keep an eye on what is happening in the market. http://static.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_smilies/smile.gif

This site is about trying to save money but also about informing people about all their options, so that they can make the appropriate decisions for themselves.

There have been sufficient issues mentioned about OVO being unable to service new customers' accounts (I accept some have gone smoothly) that one factor in deciding to switch is how much your own time is worth in sorting out issues if they arise.

Slavishly trying to follow every penny, set against the cost of one's sanity, to take the extreme position, is daft. Everyone will be on the sliding scale somewhere and there's no need to pour scorn on those who make decisions on variables which differ from your own.

I was on the April Blue+Price promise thing just ended, I originally signed up for the June 2015 price fix even though OVO was around £150 cheaper because ...

    1) I'm lazy & it was easy, pretty much one-click
    2) there's no exits fees so ...
    3) I had all summer with low usage/low bills to wait for something else

And what d'ya know, the August 2015 fix suddenly appears which is about £75 more than OVO for me.

And the above points all still hold, maybe in another month there'll be another fix and I'll switch to that!

alanwsg I too was in the same position, I too could have saved a similar amount, I too embraced the same apathy and I too switched pretty much one-click again when something better came along. OVO would have been cheaper but less so now and I'm very much appreciating the freedom with EDF I could have given up.
If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.
