I think you might be overcomplicating matters. Lots of people here on MSE have been getting their Halifax fivers, alongside interest from other current accounts, for quite some time now (several years in my case). There are dedicated threads about each of the accounts on the forum. Nobody has reported any race condition in years .....
  • I get my pension on the 17th of every month. I set up an S/O from my current classic account to pay in £500 pm to my Classic Plus [2] account on the 18th of every month, then set up an S/O on my Classic Plus [2] account to bounce the £500 back to my Classic Plus [1] account on the 19th of every month (i.e. the day after) [this one will be paying bills), so both Classic Plus accounts are active every month.
I don't think setting up tansfer S/O on the same day would be advisable.

Sorry, it's late and I instinctively used that term without realising other people might not be familiar with it.

It's a computing/electronics topic (examples often use bank accounts as analogies).

They are synchronization problems between shared resources.

I did smile when I read it and wondered what would happen further down the post. :)

Maybe in this case VHDL should stand for Very Handy Depositing Lessons! :D
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

I've not heard it called a race condition but I did have an issue with my Halifax standing orders this month.

Transfer in comes on 21st of month, transfer out goes on 22nd. 21st was a bank holiday so the money didn't come in till 22nd. Halifax sent me a text alert that the SO would not be paid as there were insufficient funds in the account despite the text alert balance showing the transfer in amount. One to watch out for with bank holidays in future.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
