This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Lack of sleep Saturday night and last night and worrying all day yesterday has made me a real grump today. Still no news to relieve the worry so am in a bit of a black place, hopefully something today will make things a bit better.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who wants or needs them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

I've had my porridge, hubby has a cuppa & doesn't need get up 'til later, I have a box of salad ready to take to work for lunch.
No cooking tonight, just egg on toast for me & then on with the sewing.
Have a good day everyone

Morning all,
TTFTM hope you get some good news today. Dry here atm but sky is looking a bit grey, off to work for us all today.
I need to drop some ebay parcels off at the post office on the way home tonight we had as very good ebay day yesterday which will help the coffers !
We ended up with lamb casserole yesterday from some left over roast lamb, I must say it was delish, so chicken casserole has been bumped to today, its all assembled just needs puting in the sc.
DD had a fab time at alton towers she got back really late last night so is shattered this morning.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Damp and dull here but very mild. Hoping the sun will shine today, although there's not much washing as most of it was done yesterday. It was quite overcast all day but there was a breeze so the washing dried.
Went over to neighbours yesterday for chicken fajitas at dinner time so that was an unexpected bonus, will have roast chicken tonight, hopefully DD will be able to taste it - she has the most awful cold, hoping she had a better nights sleep.
Full week at work this week so need to be organised, made salad for lunch which I always enjoy. DD has her hm tomato soup left from yesterday. Cooked a piece of ham yesterday so that's all sliced and in the fridge/freezer for sandwiches and salads for the next couple of weeks.
TTFTM - hope you get sorted soon.
Butterfly Brain - Hope you are recovering well.
Hugs to the poorlies, LW - are you ok?
Have a good week. Take care. XX0 -

LW. You OK?
BBrain. Hope you are OK?
WM on, on my first coffee have 2 more loads from the caravan, which looks like I can get dry outside today and tomorrow, then need to catch up the basket again, to be clear for the weekend. Also took the opportunity to wash all Skye's bedding/towels, including Fred the teddy.
Belated birthday wishes. Mrs MW, seemed to disappear, I'm crocheting a baby pinafore dress for DDIL's Sisters new baby, will pop a piccy on FB when finished as it is a new pattern I found. It has a nice cardi & waistcoat pattern in it too. Only started it last week, and just the top edging and straps to do now.
((Hugs)), Spoons, etc., all round. Take care everyone, DG.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy, and overcast. Dry at the moment so have put the washing on the line.
DH up and gone to work early, but not stupid early.
Roast pork yesterday was served and eaten at 4pm – so not sure whether you count that as a very late lunch or early dinner! It was lovely though, we had new potatoes, peas, carrots, broccoli, Yorkshires and gravy with it, ice cream for dessert. There’s a good quantity of the pork left, I managed to carve it, serve it and then get the remainder hidden in the fridge before it got eaten! So tonight’s meal will vary from the menu plan, we’ll be having cold pork, with salad, and jacket potatoes, and the meal that was planned for tonight can be shifted to another night.
DH and myself got the job done that we needed to, and DH is very happy with outcome.
We also managed to buy him a new pair of work boots, had gone to 1 of the big out of town stores where we have always bought his work boots before, and they didn’t have 1 pair in his size, he’s an 8 or 9 depending on the fit, so not an unusual 1, they had got a pair but 1 boot was an 8 and 1 was a 9 and the assistant said they must have come from the suppliers like that! There’s a hardware/diy store just opened and he wanted to try there, went there and got a much better quality boot for much less money – so he’s happy especially now as he will have dry feet!
Back to work for me today, hoping it will be busy so it makes the time pass quickly. I have to stop off on the way home and collect an item from MrT and I’ll get a fresh loaf of bread at the same time.
Have had a bit of luck over the weekend, with online gaming, had a couple of small wins, so waiting for the money to hit the bank account.
Went to the bank first thing Saturday morning, I now remember why I make the effort on a Friday as I got there just after they had opened, and the queue went from inside to outside on the pavement – so I used the automated machine, it’s supposed to speed up the process, it took 4 attempts for it to accept my cheque, it kept saying it couldn’t read the cheque and it did the same the last time I tried to pay a cheque in, by the time I got it to accept it, I could have been at the front of the queue, so won’t be using it again, and at least it will help the staff hold on to their jobs, as they put these machines in at the expense of counter staff, our bank has 3 cashier desks, since the machine has been installed they only ever have 2 staff serving, before at busy times they’d have all 3 open.
Have a good Monday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all, (((hugs))) to all who need them.
The sun was streaming through the windows at 6.15 this morning, but now it's very grey and dull.
I have stripped the bedding from all of the beds and the first of 3 loads of washing are the washing machine.
The dishwasher is loaded and on, DDs snack and drink for school have been prepared and we are all up, showered, dressed and full of breakfast!
I checked the seedlings this morning - radishes are doing very well indeed, as are the runner beans, potatoes and pumpkins. No sign of carrots, baby leeks or beetroot though.
I must put my broad beans plants into the raised beds today - so I'm hoping for nice weather.
More jobs for the day:
Finish washing & drying the bedding and re-make the beds.
Dust and vacuum all rooms.
Find time to enter some competitions.
Tea for DH & I: Chicken and mushroom risotto
Tea for DD: Prawn and tomato pasta

Good Morning everyone day started a bit damp looking but seems to be brightening up a bit now.
No school run this morning as my son-in-law will drop smallest DGS Mikey at school before he goes on to work. But I shall be at their house for when the boys come home.Another three weeks of non-driving grr. and both DDs said its not worth trying until the six weeks are up as it may put things back .:):) I discovered the joys of buses
(as my age they are free) so have saved bundles this month on diesel.
I have my oldest friend coming down to visit today from Dartford and we are
going out to lunch at the local pub which will be nice.I also have to phone Dobbies up to see what's happened to the Flymo mower I ordered and paid for over a week ago, it was promised for last Thursday.I treated my DD to a new one as they had three broken ones in their shed !!!
I had a lovely dinner last night at DDs roast lamb and all the trimmings with HM lemon meringue to follow,DGS Henry has a Spanish exam today so I sat and listened to his revision. He is suprisingly good, bless him.He is such a noisy football loving little boy who normally does his homework because he has to, and never seems keen on scholastic stuff at all,but he seems to have got pretty nifty at Spanish for some reason.
His oldest brother did German under sufferance at school and his next brother up does French also under sufferance but our 'enry seems to be really quick, and has picked Spanish up very well.Which is nice as my niece Lorraine is coming over for a visit from Mexico in the late summer, and it will be nice if he can converse with her.She has lived out there since the mid 1970s after she married a Mexican chap and her two sons are totally bi-lingual.She owns and runs a restaraunt and so is fluent in Spanish. Both DD and I were suprised at how good Henry is bless him.
Well time to get in the shower and make some breakfast,it seems strange not haring out the door for the school run,but I'd better make the most of it as I'll soon be back in the normal routine in a few weeks
Have a great day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx
P.S. the sun has just come out and its brightening up by the minute:):)

Morning all,
Had a nice long sleep last night which I needed.
TTFTM hope things sort themselves out soon positive vibes.
LW thinking of you, hope your ok
redruby I need a kick up the !! To get my ebaying done.
We've had a productive weekend. Hubby cut the lawn and planted up the hanging baskets. We also put some salad leaves in which we find wonderful value. We eat salad most days and last year right through from April to October we ate salad out of the garden. A real saving. The onions are doing well, most if the veg is in now and the garden is looking good. We have a pair of robins and a pair of pigeons who nest out there every year. We are enjoying watching their comings and goings.
Yesterday was nice with all the children and partners enjoying the chicken casserole and a good sized portion in the freezer for another meal for me and dh. Had some quality time listening to my grandson read and gave him a bath. He was especially excited as grandma put talc on him afterwards:rotfl:
My youngest is back today, will be glad when he's home safe and sound. He gets his mock results this week and he's working Saturday Sunday and BH Monday so a busy week for him.
Just had a look at the new morning breakfast show on itv, I'm normally a bbc girl but thought I would have a look.
I don't really understand the tight close ups, will be sticking with bbc.
Off to peg out my washing, have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm back! I didn't post while I was away, it was so busy, I feel as if we were away for weeks. We had 3 sets of visitors - DD's, bf's mother and brother (first meeting for us, they were very nice), sis-in-law (doesn't really count as a visitor because we see her so often) and two colleagues of DH who were walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks with him. It was lovely but I did an awful lot of cooking etc so didn't get much of a break. Never mind, I shall take it easy over the next few days.
I'm itching to get back to my sewing machine, I nearly took it with me but I'm glad I didn't because it would have been wasted up there, I had no time for it.
Have a good day everyone.0
