Just reading back about tales of elderly nans and mams and how demanding they can become. Of this I have no doubt having experienced it first hand myself.
What I wonder is....how do we stop ourselves becoming "them" , people who are needy...the next generation.....the people our children will care for and support.
How do we retain our independence and dignity and build solid "healthy" relationships with those younger than us, all the while remaining reasonable, patient and loving.
Or should I just resign myself to navy elasticated trousers:o
I'm afraid I think it is inevitable TM especially the trousers. :rotfl:
My mum was the most patient person I have ever met, unlike me, but even she could not hold on to it in the end. Everything became desperate to be done like getting Christmas sorted in September, buying March's birthday cards in December. But of course she could not do it herself.
Oh and the elasticated trousers are definitely a must if you want a certain sort of independence.0 -

I can't tell you how many pairs went to charity of my mum's. Her favourite were the navy of course. She had black, and grey checked ones too, loads different actually but all exactly the same style from M&S.
Was sad but funny one day as she came out to the car with a pair of black ones that had a bit of sparkle in. They were usually kept for best. I asked her why she was so dressed up, but she had not realised they were the sparkly ones. She didn't believe me until we got back and I showed her they were not in the wardrobe. :A0 -

It's probably all tied in with losing control over the important things in life...mobility, choice, where you live etc.
So perhaps you start to sweat the small stuff where you still have an element of control left:oTo do is to be. Rousseau
