if its on your side and the by laws allow that sized fence its ok....have you spoken to the neighbours as we wanted a bigger fence and when we told them they were happy for us to replace the existing and even gavbe a little something towards it.?
Back gardens can generally be six foot but front is usually substantially lower so as to not block the view to the road etc.
