    It is expected to work properly now, and generally does... Why are they more likely to spend extra if they made more money? As you've already agreed, money is not the limiting factor, so that makes no sense at all. If they make more money they'll just keep/pay shareholders more money.

    I work in a shop and have known our PIN pad to stick on certain numbers before resulting in an "incorrect" entry.

    I wonder if this was the case in the OP's situation?
