My Vodafone experience

Hi Folks,

First time here, to be honest I'm hoping for a little advice as well as a chance to vent a bit of frustration.

So about 5 years ago I had a Vodafone contract, had a high bill one month, which I paid, and decided I wanted to cancel. I went into a store and was advised I'd have to pay a fairly high cancellation fee, which I did, because, as I said I wanted out of the contract. Since then I've had no further contact or dealings with Vodafone.

Until today, 5 years later, I've just had a letter arrive from Vodafone claiming I owe almost 400 pounds in unpaid line rental fees, and furthermore that I have 7 days to pay before they send in the debt collectors.

Naturally I called Vodafone to try and get some more information and to dispute this, to which I was rather curtly told that I was well aware of the outstanding amounts and knew I was liable for them. I would like to again repeat that since the day I cancelled (or thought I did, as they say) I have had no communication from Vodafone at all.

I am at a loss for how to proceed with this, Vodafone claim they received no cancellation payment from me, when I said I paid it in one of their stores they said they couldn't comment on that and so I am apparently liable for 400 pounds worth of a "service" I never used.

What can I do?

Send them a copy of the receipt they gave you in the store or a copy of your final bill.
If you paid by card etc send them a copy of the statement showing the transaction.
It's not just about the money

Contact the Web Relations Team with the heading "WRT135 - MSE" in the title using their on-line form. Noboldy else in Vodafone will give a damn.
