We have a very stupid son
Do you know, a parent really shouldn't say this about their son (or daughter).
The one most important person they have looked up to for their entire life now publicly calls them as such, which only helps reinforce in them the 'fact' that they are, and they will continue to meet your expectations, and not disappoint you.
You may think it, but you don't need to be 'confirming' things in his own mind. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

He decided (on listening to advice from others) that it was OK to consistently ignore parking restrictions in place in the University car parks.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes, you are quite right - he really isn't stupid, just acted very stupidly and now we are having sleepless nights trying to sort it out for him!
It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't done it so many times. We really have no idea how many of these will keep coming out of the woodwork.0 -
I wouldn't have sleepless nights over it. You are doing the right thing by appealing what you can to POPLA. Once the PPC get slaughtered at POPLA (providing you get your POPLA defence sorted here before you submit it) they'd have to be really stupid to take the others to court.0
-
Make sure you do 1 appeal per POPLA code and don't try to aggregate them. But make sure they all go in at once.
Properly written and checked by us, it would cost the PPC 8 x £27 to fight the appeal and if one wins, they all do.
As said above, the others would fail too.
One thing, though, there is a thread on here where the uni/PPC are playing hardball and suggesting that unpaid "parking fines" could cause the degree to be withheld. Just beware.0 -
Thanks for all the help so far with this. Our son has taken some pictures of the signage in 2 of the car parks which you will find here.
As we are not allowed to post links here they can be found on:
http:,,s102.photobucket.xxx,user,mystupidson,library,parking.
(where we have put commas, they should be replaced with forward slashes and the xxx should be replaced with com). We hope this makes sense and you are able to view the photos.
We would be very grateful if someone could let us know how our letter should be amended to take into account the wording on the signs.
Many thanks.0 -
I can't get the link to work. Please post it again and simply drop the http:// part.0

Here it is again minus the beginning part as suggested by bod1467.

Sign says 'Failure to comply', therefore 'no GPEOL' will be essential in all your POPLA appeals.
Get that inserted correctly and job done! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
