Overcharged by Sky

Hey Guys,

Me and my mum had a rep recently come to our house in regards to Sky. He offered us a fantastic deal of £36 a month, which we thought was great! He also offered to ensure Mum's Virgin bill is paid off too so she could move to Sky.

I received my first bill from Sky and I'm being charged £42+ at the moment. My mum is being charged the £36, however the Virgin bill has not been paid off. We have both tried contacting the rep with zero luck.

We have both (separately) contacted Sky in regards to our individual issues to basically be told it's not their problem and tough.

After refusing to acknowledge my complaint in their first two emails, they offered me half price TV for 3 months, but that no way near covers the extra cost it is now costing me over the entire year before I can cancel it. I said this and they promised to have someone contact me on Tuesday, and this hasn't happened.

Does anyone know if I have any rights in regards to this? I can't believe companies are allowed to agree to a price and then not honour it. I would have never signed up to it if I thought it was going to cost more than the £36.

Thank you.

Freelance sales agent-they'll tell you the moon is made of cheese if it gets your signature...
Never ever ever sign up at the door or on the phone, do it direct and keep the commission for yourself.
What did you actually sign, and what price did it state?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Nothing has actually be signed, and I never received a copy of the breakdown from Sky in regards to how much I would be paying (otherwise I would have disputed it there and then).

The guy on the door was definitely from Sky, had ID etc and all the official documents relating to the offer - otherwise we would never have agreed.

Sky use 3rd party agents to sell door to door, they are not employees of Sky. Hence their only interest is their commission.

So the guy that signed you up left you no paperwork at all?

Which makes me think he has probably 'signed it for you' and handed Sky the order on that basis.
Why didn't you ask the agent for a copy of the order at the time?

To be honest - I didn't even think to. I have never had anything like this happen. I presumed they would send me paperwork etc through afterwards - but they didn't.

Everything was done online by the rep - so there was no copies of paperwork to give me.

Sky have asked me to send them a copy of the paperwork etc and I have replied to say I didn't receive any. Just waiting to see what they say now...
