Help needed - Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Hi everyone

I've had a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for the last couple of years and have been very happy with it but it now seems to have developed a problem and I hope someone here might be able to help me.

When I turn on the phone, the screen comes on okay but it just stays with the Samsung logo on the screen - nothing else happens apart from the logo changing colour slightly.

I have brought a new battery and also tried my wife's mobile battery in my phone but the problem remains the same.

Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Thank you.

Is everything backed up from your phone/on a micro SD card?

Because you may need to factory reset your phone.
To do this follow the instrutiions below but be aware that IT WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE and restore it to how it was before you got the device. If that doesn't work send it back to Samsung for repair.

    Turn your phone off.
With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. You'll see the Android recovery screen.
Scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume Up or Down keys. Select with the power key.
Scroll down to Yes, Delete User Data and select it.
Back on the first screen, scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition and select it.
Your factory reset is now complete.
Go to Reboot System Now to restart the phone.

If above fails try an update via Kies.

NOOooo Dont update via KIES. Its useless.

If you must update then use ODIN.

Thank you - have just tried that and still just comes up with Samsung on the screen but nothing else. Any other ideas?

Less chance of a dead phone with Kies is a simple fact .
Odin you have only got to tick wrong boxes put firmware in the wrong section download the wrong firmware .
Repartition wipe nand and all the other errors that can lead to a brick seen far far to many times .
But odin is safe if you know what you are doing i must have used it 500 times or more .

With the splash screen showing it reads more like EFS folder corrupt >>> see xda forums your model .
In this case a new firmware flash via odin may be worth a try >firmware is on sammobile.com or samsung - updates .com

    No worries.

Do you mind posting the final solution on here so that anyone else with a similar problem can see what they should try.
  • Out of interest - has anyone else's Note 2 become a buggy mess in recent weeks? Mine is becoming horrendously unreliable.
