    Thankyou. Xx
“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff.”
  • When I've been on hospital duty at various times, the things I've needed most have been (in no particular order) - someone to talk to about it, someone to take my mind off it, somewhere to charge my phone, cash for the car park, someone to put healthy food in front of me, and somewhere to sleep during the day. If you can help with even a few of these sorts of things you'll be doing your friend a great service.

    Worst case has happened.
Poor little darling has a crumbling spine, and leukaemia.

Mums here tonight, chillis cooking, spuds in the oven in case she just wants a jacket and the bathrooms all cleaned ready for her to have a soak.

I feel sideswiped, I can't imagine how a parent deals with this.

Couldn't read and run. (((Hugs))) for you and your friend and her family. It's devastating and you're being as supportive as you can be. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the family and all affected.

Well that's taken the wind out of my lungs, what a terrible shock for Mum and Dad and you all. You are going to need all your energy now to support them for the long haul.

    Best wishes

Yea. And us. They don't know much at the moment sadly. Just a waiting game.

  • Ah I'm sorry to hear about the little mite.

Co-incidently I was listen to something today which may be of use. The person was talking about what they appreciated at a stressful period of their life and they were saying that the ability to talk to friends about something over and over again was much appreciated - even if the friends didn't have suggestions on how they could deal with the problem in hand.

Also it might help if the dad can talk to your husband on his own - he might be able to say / do things that perhaps only another man could understand

Makes you assess priorities that's for sure.

Thankyou all. I have taken everything on board, and hoping that we can be of some emotional and practical help.
