If you install an adblocker then at least you will be spared from seeing the adverts for these sites that appear at the top of many google pages.0

You now pay for your renewal online at the .gov.uk site, you print out the declaration and then send the form off with your 2 photographs.
It worried me when i was asked to pay and i had to check and check again that i was on the right site.
Unfortunately it does seem that you ended up on a copy cat site, horrible people who should be outlawed.
Is that really the case, I thought they jst sent you the forms prefilled and then you sent them back with payment??0 -

nope you cant pay online, you fill a form in and send it back with the renewal application
if it were the real site it would show up on your bank statement as HM PASSPORT OFFICE
just done a renewal this month0 -

You might want to check again - I have checked the official site today and you can now pay online.0 -
At this stage it is a beta service - ie undergoing shakedown trials to see how buggy it is before it is launched to replace the old service. An official Government beta service - what could possibly go wrong?Life is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0

Hi, i have jut been reading through this thread because I need to renew my sons passport as he wants to go on holiday.
This will be his first adult passport him being 16 when he had his last one.
From what I can gather you need to pay online now which I presume is correct and I just wanted to ask what about countersigning the photo does this still need to be done as he has changed a lot from the 16 year old photo he was on his last passport.
Also I have always done the check and send with the post office and paid for the passport at the same time, so how will this work when you have already paid for the passport online how will the post office know you have paid ? will they try and charge you again?.
I have alsways just filled the forms in online and not paid but then paid in the post office when they were sent off, so it is all a bit confusing now.
Can anybody advise.
Thanks Sammygave up smoking 07/01/09 :j:j:j0 -

You don't have to pay online - there are various options for paying. If you want to use the PO, you still can - https://www.gov.uk/how-the-post-office-check-and-send-service-works
Yes, you will need someone to sign the new photos and fill in the appropriate section on the forms.0
