UKPC - Parking in a disabled bay

Good afternoon everyone
We recently parked in a disabled bay whilst shopping. Myself and my wife had her disabled nan with her and her blue badge but it was not displayed (or it was ignored by UKPC) Either way they stuck a charge on for parking in a disabled bay.
I told my wife, who is the registered keeper, not to pay it naturally, we have now received the NTK letter.
The thing is my (wife the RK) is 7 months pregnant and hasn't really got the stomach to be fighting the good fight against UKPC and i cannot have her getting stressed with letters and demands etc so i need to inform them that i am the driver and that all correspondence should be addressed to me.
I'm going to fight it all the way, could someone please advise on the best way to admit being the driver without dropping myself deep into it.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The NEWBIES thread has all the info needed, including a flowchart of what to do when. You can handle it all if you wish on the keeper's behalf, but all communications need to be in the keeper's name. (If there was a windscreen ticket then the keeper can't name the driver to allow the driver to appeal - the driver missed their chance at windscreen stage). The template appeal in the NEWBIES thread would be the first appeal that "your wife" would send in.
An alternative path (for £16) is to get the Parking Ticket Appeals Service to handle everything.0 -
Your wife needs to tell the PPC that you were the driver. That resets the clock as far as appeal time goes.
That does put you in the frame, but given your circumstances, it's not a great deal different as long as you are intent on fighting it.
All she does is write to or contact the PPC saying "I acknowledge your NtK and discharge my keeper liability by naming the driver on the day in question as Mr msh...."
You then await the revised NtD and put in a standard appeal to a PPC from the NEWBIES sticky, expecting a rejection and it going through to POPLA.
Make sure Mrs gets a postage receipt (free) from the post office when she names you as driver.0 -

If there was a windscreen ticket (which I suspect was the case here) then this does not work - the keeper needs to appeal as the driver missed his chance at windscreen ticket stage.0 -
I agree with bod1467 on this one - the keeper simply sends the template appeal from the NEWBIES thread at this stage or refers it to the parking appeals service to handle it instead if that would be easier than having to deal with a POPLA appeal next month when she's got other things on her mind!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Ok so i'm going to push on with an appeal. Using the template in the newbies thread i'm going to send the appeal to the PPC.
Should i include all the relevent information (The wife's grans blue badge details) and all the rest of it or will they just disregard it anyway?
Maybe save all that for the POPLA process?
Once again, any help greatly appreciated0 -
I assume that this appeal is within the 28 day timescale ? (as you said it happened recently ? )
if so, the RK appeals it using the template letter, yes you include the BB issue as the EA 2010 applies for that person regardless of displaying a BB or not (not required under the EA 2010)
so add that as an extra to the appeal as RK , staing a passenger in the car qualifies under the EA 2010 as a BB holder (even if it wasnt displayed)
this can be added if it goes to popla, but popla tend to ignore these BB and EA2010 issues0 -
The ticket was issued on in early march but i'm well within 28 days of the NTK letter
I've added to the letter that a passenger was a BB holder etc.
I've been reading the forum and apparently UKPC do not do court. If it fails on this appeal and fails at POPLA can i just go back to ignoring them?0 -
it will not fail at POPLA if you use the advice provided here and get the appeal checked prior to it going in to popla
nothing can be guaranteed, and they have up to 6 years to bring a small claims charge, so never say never
get this quashed using forum advice here, or by the landowner or retailer, thats the best advice , even if that means winning at popla
bear in mind that these landowners dont like the threat of court action using the EA 2010 , so threaten back !0 -
Thanks RedX, Very helpful.0

have a read of this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4889645 if you want an example of the EA 2010 at work
he qualifies under the EA 2010 for a BB but didnt actually have one and got multiple tickets for parking in a disabled bay at Meadowhall
The EA 2010 threat of court action has made them follow the law, and I assume the parking company has been reprimanded too0
