SIM only deal - not giffgaff

Can anyone recommend the best deal on a sim only deal for an iPhone.

I'm currently on an unlimited data deal with giffgaff but I'm quite frankly loathing them as they keep cutting my internet off due to what they call tethering.

I'm well aware of what this is, but when I've gone out of my way to get individual sim's for every internet enabled device and absolutely have never tethered my phone I find it grating.

The only suggestion their help desk gives is that I alter my usage to prevent the false positives.

Obviously they seem to have forgotten that I'm the customer.

So what's the best alternative?

There is no 'best' that suits everyone. It all depends on the usage/requirements, but you failed to say even what goodybag you were using.

Lycamobile use the same O2 and offer similar (if not better) PAYG bundles: http://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/bundles.

    Thank you

Do you know if they have the same tethering detection software?

    I don't know, but I don't think they do.

If the Lyca deal turns out to be unsuitable, you could consider Three PAYG All-in-one £15 add-on.

    300 minutes, 3,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data.

On the face of it the Lyca deal is better as you get more minutes (and it is free to phone or texts with in network) and Lyca only costs £12, but I only mention the Three deal in case there are restrictions with the Lyca data.

Three do not allow tethering on PAYG. The OP would need to go 30 day sim only on the One Plan if they want to tether.

Lyca Mobile do not detect tethering.

However they do have a fair use of 5GB before they reduce your speeds to 2G speeds.

I read somewhere that Lyca roamed between EE and O2.
Got a sim to test and only roamed onto O2.

Good luck in getting 5GB out of them
Probably takes years on GPRS speeds ;)

I think it's either EE or O2, depending on the sim, not between. EE for old sims only.

This depends on the signal I guess. Others reported good speeds, e.g.

Lyca 3G speeds for me were better than my EE 4G signal, much better!

Lyca used to be an MVNO of Orange, it hasn't been on EE.

Lyca is now an MVNO of O2, it doesn't "roam" in the true definition of roaming, it operates like any MVNO (for example, the way Giffgaff operates on O2 is the same).

Why would anyone worry about a large allowance if they only had a GPRS phone?

With a modern phone Lyca offers very good 3G and excellent 4G speeds. In side by side tests, a Lyca sim is much faster than a Giffgaff sim (1.7MBps on Giffgaff, 8.3Mbps on Lyca).

20Mbps on Lyca 4G is quite commonplace, rising to 30Mbps on occasion.
