in Water bills
My bf and I rented a house until Jan of this year. We were with NPower but took part in a mass switch to Sainsbury's Energy in June. At the time, we gave a meter reading for gas and leccy to Sainsbury's which my bf has written on our bill.
Everything went fine from then on.
We cancelled with Sainsbury's when we left and handed everything over to my sister (who we were renting off) Job is a good un.
As forwarded mail, we have received a letter from NPower saying we owe them £300 in electricity and £58 in gas?!? This is the first letter we have had from them since we switched last June.
My bf has rung up questioning the amount. We thought we might owe them something when we thought further about it.
NPower are saying the bill is based on estimated usage because they didn't receive a reading from Sainsbury's?!? We know this to be wrong. NPower are saying they want the money NOW and that we are in collections. I say again, this is the first letter we have had. We can't have a default against our name, we're applying for a mortgage at the end of this year
Sainsbury's are saying that they don't have a reading either.
What can we do?! There is no way that we owe £300 in leccy from Mar to June. There are only two of us and we have never had a bill that big for anything!!! Ever!!

Forget £££ bills, does the final bill they sent correspond with the closing readings you submitted? Sort out the meter readings and the bill will then be accurate. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi tracey1302,
I'm sorry to hear of the issues you're experiencing with your npower final bill.
Following a change of supply it's the new suppliers responsibility to provide the old supplier with the transfer reads. If no actual reads are provided then estimated reads will be used instead.
I am however concerned that there appears to be a gap in you changing supplier and receiving our final bill, as we normally provide these within 28 days of a transfer.
So that I can take a closer look into this and review the billing of the account, can you send me an email using the address from my profile with your account/address details.
Thanks
