Swimming with tiny baby

i took DD at 13 weeks in a normal swim nappy and her costume held it on. the huggies start at 16lb i think. she's 8 months and only weighs 16lb 9oz, so would have had to wait a long time to go swimming!!
also don't forget that as swim nappies don't absorb water you can rinse them off, dry and use again! mse and all that.
or adams do a costume with a built in nappy http://adams.co.uk/shop/product/products_id/4530.html0 -
I took DS (he's 10 now) at 5 weeks old, at a friends private home pool. HV advised not to use public pools til after 3 months old.
Anyway, I just bought a pair of old fashioned rubber pants (they type that go over terry towelling nappies). Rubber on the outside/towelling inside. These were available from 0-3 months size, and anything he did in the pool, was held inside!0 -
A normal nappy will soak up half the pool!!
A little known secret is that most (tiny) babies will not "go" in a swimming pool because they have a reflex which stops them. So unless your pool (actively!) insists I wouldn't worry too much about a nappy at all.
My 10 year old probably does more in the pool than your newborn!!0 -
I took my DD swimming without any swim nappy at 2 months old because they weren't about then. She may have had a wee in the pool but she never did number twos! I just bought a tiny swimming costume to cover her modesty.
