BT Mobile

Last month we had a BT Mobile bill for £1,600.00 we have 5 handsets and the bill is normally £400 a month, I complained to the number on the bill, and was promised a call within 10 days from the "off line team" and 5 chases later no action from them. This months bill arrived yesterday and imagine my surprise when it was £8,600.00 give or take.

Like the previous forum member said, the bill does not make any sense, we have been charged for a WAP call at 05:42:04 that lasted 0:49:14 £3,621.00. The person that uses the offending phone is 95% office based and on WIFI, never watches videos on his phone and makes few phone calls. We also have a 2Gb allowance per handset.

BT are of no help, in nearly a month they have not replied to any of my issues despite repeated calls. This has to be a scam by BT or a massive error based on previous posts, and also there surely has to be a duty of care to the customer. in 4 years with BT Mobile our bill has never exceeded £500.00.

Has anyone found out why this is happening, and also has their account credited?

  • WAP is an old protocol from the days of 2G when mobile phones were unable to display web pages. If I recall correctly, it works in a similar manner to dial-up internet access and is charged at 7p per minute from BT Mobile.

I have no idea why BT Mobile seem stuck in the last century over this. Once you have sorted the billing nonsense, assuming you can, get them to disable WAP on your mobiles as it has no practical use.
