You would pay roughly £5.20 if you withdrew the £700 on the first day there and didn't pay it back until you returned.

this APR thing confuses me..... 12.9%.....
12.9% APR is ~0.234% per week.

    i.e. ~£4.90 for 3 weeks, not £5.20 :D

The Interest would still apply and from the day u withdraw the money.
Small correction. :)...It'll accrue interest from the day the transaction is posted to your account, which may be 1-4 days after the actual withdrawal.

    Hi,
just a quick question. Just looking at getting my first credit card. I'm going to India and heard that the Halifax Clarity is the best card to use abroad.
Just getting my head around this credit card stuff...
If I withdrew say £700 in my 3 weeks in India, if I paid this off as soon as I got back, would the interest still apply? Confused!

What I do with my Clarity card is that I deposit the money into the credit card by using online banking (have halifax current account) before I leave UK and withdraw cash when I am away and in this way do not incur any interest at all.
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

May I ask how much you typically pre-load?...and also if you take a back up card with you?

This horror story of someone doing exactly that was linked to in another part of the site today.

    By me :D

That's why I'm asking the question of how much positive balance is being created (and checking they have a back up should the same happen to them).

(Looking for a Thumbs Up emoticon, but this will have to do) :money:

And I was well impressed that you found or knew about such an old thread.

    Drag&drop from the bottom ;)

IMO, the one you used is far too irritating.
