I have, pasta, cheese bacon and mushrooms! No sauce on it but you can mix mayo in with it if you like, it is lovelyFriends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0

The basic tomato sauce (tomatoes, onion, a bit of garlic and some olive oil) can also be used with tuna - add some tuna (I usually use a can of tuna per can of chopped tomatos), some capers (important, it'll taste very bland without them) and a few drops of balsamic vinegar. And some herbs, of course.
A very simple dish that's 100% tomato-free and guaranteed to clear the room of people who don't like garlic is Spaghetti alio e olio.
Cook the spaghetti as usual. Chop a couple of cloves of garlic, then sautée the garlic in plenty of olive oil. Keep the temperature down tho' so you don't accidentally fry the garlic. Very simple dish, but you need high quality olive oil for it.0 -
Another very very simple dish is pasta with a squeeze of lemon and parmesan cheese. Lovely, refreshing and different!0

Thanks, keep the ideas coming. I hadn't thought of using spaghetti, how silly of me. Kitty, I'm not sure about the pink one but the pesto one sounds great. How do I make my own pesto, is is just basil and oil?Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0

I'd forgotten tuna pasta. It's a great *storecupboard standby*. Make a cheese sauce and add a tin of tuna. We also like to add a tin of sweetcorn, and some finely chopped pepper.

An easy one which I love with spaghetti:
Fry some sliced mushrooms (and onions if you like) in a bit of butter, then add a tub of cream cheese and cook over a low heat until the cheese melts into a runny sauce. Stir in pasta and enjoy!
Sainsburys do different flavoured own brand cream cheeses, like philadelphia but they're only about 38p a tub, and they all work well with this recipe - my favourite is the black pepper one, but the garlic and herb one's lovely too.
Or you can just use plain cream cheese and jazz it up with your own flavourings.0 -

(for when you think theres nothing that will go together in the cupboard/fridge)

Heat oil in small fry pan add garlic and fry until just starting to colour. Add ham and stir for a min os so then add tomatoes fry for another min or so to heat through.
Drain spag and broccoli BUT hold back 1 mug of cooking water.
Tip pasta mix back into the saucepan and pesto and ham mix.
Toss together to mix and add a little of the cooking liquid if you think it needs moistening.

Was just browsing organic veg box sites and came across this recipe for a different variation on the courgette one - https://www.riverswale.co.uk/recipes/recipe.php?recipeid=487&catid=4
I'm in 'using up' just before payday mode this week, and made a sort of sauce last night by frying some onions, cooking some spinach and then adding a sachet of mushroom cup-a-soup and a little bit of water to it all. Had this on top of pasta with a bit of blue cheese crumbled on top - surprisingly nice!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
