The results of a FOI request to the DVLA is below, this is for only 6 months, and it shows a huge increase in EDI requests to the dvla

I'm not sure if this is an error on behalf of the dvla and this is the 12 month figure to March 2014.

6 Month Figures

Top 5

Parking Eye - 406,210
Ranger Services - 153,000
Compex - 133,898
Euro Car Parks - 57,491
UKPC - 51,226

Total Requests - 1,220,524

Manual Requests - 68,811

12 Month Figures

Top 5

Parking Eye - 807,201
Ranger Services - 317,232
Compex - 280,277
Euro Car Parks - 109,969
CEL - 106,776

Total Requests - 2,430,130

Manual Requests - 118,699

    Very illuminating.

Certainly explains why the DVLA turns a blind eye to the shoddy practices of PPCs. At a couple of quid a pop, it soon start becoming serious dosh.

    A nice little earner - over £6m.

Edit: based on the BBC link from this thread, the figures represent 12 months not 6.

That hasn't been determined as yet, look at the foi request and their reply. It was asked for the 6 month period not the 12 month

Yep, the reply quite clearly states - from 01/10/13 - 31/03/14.

Surely they can't be that incompetent as to issue 12 month figures against a 6 month period (clearly stated)?

    Protected income.
It becomes in the best interests of politicians to do anything they can to help the Scam that is fake parking tickets.
£6m is an awful lot of income to lose if the fake parking ticket industry goes down.
    Be happy...;)

Okay so the dvla messed up with the figures, they have provided the 6 month data now. And it's in the first post

An interesting change is this below, don't know what it means 2012/3 figures in brackets, so a massive increase in keeper details requested by them.

    Vehicle Control Services - 44,325 (5,635)

Don't see Smart Parking listed (although T & C are, but with 'zero' against their name).

Unless they are doing it via Ranger back office service?

Why would a PPC use one of these companies? Surely the charge more than the £2.50 that the DVLA does?

Is it possible to obtain a breakdown of the Compex/Ranger figures? Every company they do checks for have to be AOS (of whichever flavour) and, I suspect, have a KADOE contract in place - or at least we have been led to believe must have been subject to the same checks as those who use the EDI. This would help us understand the figures rather better.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
