I personally use Google calendar for tax, service, mot etc on mine and my OHs car. Its synced up to both of our phones, tablets, laptops etc.

Alternatively, a post-it note with important dates stuck to the inside of the windscreen over the tax disc? (I.e, so its on the back of the tax disc holder, so you can check easily but doesn't obstruct your view).

Only trouble is, there won't be any tax discs after October as the paper disc is being discontinued. But sticker on inside of windscreen, on sun visor, note in diary.
