    It's pretty decent of them.

Personally I think the majority of the blame lies with the customer. Do your own proper research instead of clicking on the top ad and assuming all is fine :)

Please don't let hpuse see this thread! :D

Now to read the article. :)

Edit: Nope - no change. Most of the sites which are thought of as "copycats" are still there. So the article is something of nothing.

PS - not sure the Techie board is the right venue for this discussion thread. Probably better suited to Praise, Vent & Warnings or Consumer Rights.

Agree with you that this thread is in the wrong part of the forum.

Other than that it's 'same old same old'.

Do a search for citizens advice debt.

Top of the list is a shyster company that has citizens advice in its web address presumably to mislead, and seems to give its address as Ultima Lead Generation Limited. Physical Address: Unit 18, Saddleworth Business Centre, Delph, Oldham. OL3 5DF.

While google sell themselves out to these shysters who are impersonating charities, and put profit before principle then there is a long way to go.

If I understand it correctly, the search engines allow you to buy stats on what people search for. There are loads of things that people want, and an opportunist just has to go down the list for something else that hasn't been banned. Self-assessment, EHIC, viagra, passport renewal, there is no end to it.

What about some kind of Probably run by the Citizen Advice Bureau. Companies with too many complaints get referred to the Office of Fair Trading, who can ban websites pending investigation. They haven't got the resources to prosecute or investigate, but at least people can look up a website and be warned.

An app or browser add-on can warn you when you access a known website with too many complaints. The app can even automate the complaint process, so when you are on a webpage with dodgy term and conditions, it will take a snap shot, and you send it with your user name.

These sites will still appear on a Google search. The only difference is they may not appear so high up the list.

I think this is more about the sponsored ads rather than search results.

I never see these adverts, as I use an ad blocking browser add on :D

It says there are 7 adverts on this page, but 2 of them are the goofy photos/images I have removed by choice :D
