Believe me, it is so much worse when the offending item is hanging out of the other end.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
When my last dog reached the end, she went off her back legs and couldn't walk properly. I gave it two days to see if she would improve but after 2 days of carrying her outside to relieve and then carrying her back in again, (23kg Samoyed) plus carrying her anywhere else she needed to go and hand feeding her in her bed, I called the vet out to the house to put her to sleep. When the doorbell rang, my fraud of a dog leapt off her bed, ran to the door and leapt all over the vet so pleased to see him!! Needless to say we didn't put her to sleep and I had another four wonderful weeks with her before the end genuinely came. I was so so happy for the extra time, but ever so slightly miffed about the call out fee I still had to pay! It's just as well we love 'em sometimes!0

Our last dog had a standing monthly appointment at our vets, she was so full on, she would frequently hurt herself. Ripping one of her claws out by jumping down from nextdoors removal van was one of her finer moments. Calamity Chloe, she was known as.

Thankfully, our current dog isn't quite so accident prone, but I do wonder if the vet has had to forgo a holiday because we aren't there every month. I did ask him to start offering Nectar points or Air miles at one point.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0
