Cambridge Super-Case

Here in Norwich the figures are £70 for a serious offence & £35 for a lesser offence with discount for early payment. These are the levels of penalty charges everywhere outside the Great Wen & far below what the BPA Ltd think is reasonable.
But rather similar to Haywards Heath strangely !!!"The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Any more news on the Cambridge Super case??NEWBIES: visit the newbie sticky thread first, then create your own thread if your scenario isn't covered.
Household and travel > Motoring > Parking tickets, fines and parking > click on 'new thread' AFTER reading the newbie sticky - IT REALLY IS EXTREMELY USEFUL :wall:0 -
Nothing as yet, we're all still waiting. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Ever since it was meant to begin in early April I've come home from work and checked here or the Prankster's blog for news. Can't be much longer.0

We're almost at the 3 week mark, so maybe in the next week or so.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
I agree with Fergie76.
Council PCNs are statutory penalties, with statutory backing. They may be set so as to make a profit, and need not represent a GPEOL. This is not the case with PPC invoices.
That Parking Eye apparently claimed in the Cambridge case that "their charges are in line with local authority PCNs" ought to be construed as an admission that their charges are penalties, and hence unenforceable at common law, and an acknowledgement that their business model is fundamentally flawed.0 -
Even the IPC says that the business model used by companies like Parking Eye is not sustainable, so they agree that it's fundamentally flawed. This from within the parking fraternity! It's a shame they don't admit that their own members are fundamentally flawed as well.
The sustainable model is when you take out the unlawful penalties and businesses actually pay for real car park management, not the pretend one where they say this can be done by cameras on poles! When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you.
