. Tesco I was merely using them as an example of a company with such clout and a bottomless pit of money to employ legal bloodhounds at your expense.
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.

any action for libel or slander requires that the words are published to a third party. You can say what you like about anyone provided you do it face to face and no one else hears what you say.

Don't waste your money on trying to sue on this.

I'm going to sue on their taking money from my vredit card without authorisation (unless my CC company claw the money back for me....)

how did they get your credit card details - you're not going to get proper answers unless you give the full story.

If its as simple as you say then there has been some form of either theft or fraud so you should contact the police, but I bet that somewhere along the lines you gave them the details for an order?

My question really was about the accusations they have made rather than the other issue. As I'm following litigation procedures I didn't really want to name and shame them yet. I did give them my CC details yes but they breached the contract, now they have just taken money from my CC.

I have taken the matter up with the CC company yes and Consumer Direct. If all else fails, it's the small claims procedure.

For people to answer that you'd need to post full details eher.

    Thanks guys,

At the moment, I'm chasing the real issue. Once that's resolved I'll look further into this but I do object being called a liar and a thief and I'm sure a blue chip company would also object to being called irresponsible

If you genuinely feel you have been "sullied" and are not just choosing to see it, between the lines, then you have to go and get proper legal advice. Try the CAB, if you haven't already.

As helpful as they can be, I doubt that CAB would be able to assist with a potential libel case any further than the advice given here.

As noted by earlier posted, libel is an incredibly complex area, and is liable to cost you a hefty amount to bring an amount.
    Gone ... or have I?
