Who owned the account that the purchases were made with? In other words, did your BIL put his details onto your sons account? Or has your son been playing on the BILs account? Or does sony allow anyone accessing the console to make purchases with details that arent theirs?

I think you also need to start educating your child a bit more when it comes to purchases.

Not the child or the OPs problem. Time would be better spent educating the BIL above moron level.

The question hasn't been answered, which is how did the BIL's card details get on there in the first place? Did he load up a game or two to start him off? Or did he have the machine himself and then pass it on to the child.

What amazes me is that the OP is thinking that they don't have to pay the BIL, for things that the child shouldn't have bought in the first place. Where is parental responsibility? If he smacked an old lady in the head, would you back him up and say it was her fault, he hasn't done anything wrong?

What type of child will you bring up, if you cannot even think that what you are saying is wrong? The world is going mad and a number of posters on here have no morals at all !

Of course the child has done wrong. The child knew exactly what he was doing.

No wonder standards are so low in the country now.

    To answer the Op's question

    1. Depending on what has been bought there may be a grace period where you can cancel for a refund

    2. You could throw yourself on Sony's mercy & they might refund you out of goodwill

The child is 8 not 10.

If you reckon the child knows what they were doing then you need to campaign for a change in the age for criminal responsibility in England where I assume this took place.

Until that time you can not argue that the child knew exactly what he was doing because legally he didn't.

(I can't actually believe I'm on this side of the argument but stranger things happen....lol)
