Driving licence renewal?

Thanks all I didn't know if I could get a form from the post office, I don't want to give up too much remaining time on my old licence as I believe that the new licence starts from the day they issue it and not the day it actually runs out. I need to show my licence for an event that I am taking part in on the 29th of May but don't want to renew at the beginning of May and so lose more than a month on my old licence, then again if I renew on May the 30th will I have enough time remaining before the licence runs out. I can't do it online as they stipulate that you need a passport issued within 5 years to do it mine was issued eight years ago. I think that I will wait until the 30th of May and renew at the post office, if I had known that it would cause this much bother then I would have kept my old paper licence.
don't do it in the post office if you're in any kind of rush, I done mine, 2 weeks later I call to see if its been sent and they say its been lost in the system and can take up to 2 weeks to track down and a further 2 weeks to be issued again :rotfl:
but its all ok, I get the £4.50 fee from the postoffice refunded, so that makes up for having to rescheduel a theory test ....
