EE vs Three

I'm going 4g and have been offered 10gig from EE with a Galaxy S3 on a 24 month contract for 20 quid as an existing customer. Three offer sim only unlimited on a one month rolling for 12.90.
If you subtract the cost of the phone they come out about the same. I dont need the GS3 as I have an N5 but need a phone as a gift for someone anyway.
My main question is, is EE 10gig better than Three's unlimited given that EE's network is supposedly better? My monthly use on 3g was about 10gig. Tethering accounts for about 5 gig of my usage. I always use a VPN and EE have never picked me up on it before. I used to get 5meg no problem and now I only get 1 but the customer advisor told me I had not been limited in any way. Even so I feel like they are downgrading 3g to force people to upgrade. Years ago I used to get 10meg.
Any opinions are appreciated.
Thanks

I am no expert, but I don't see any reasons for their 4g signal to be better than 2g/3g even after they finish rolling it out.

Don't believe coverage checkers and sales people. Try asking friends/colleagues and checking the signal with a PAYG sim first (if possible).0 -
Samsung brought out a lte edition of the S3, after it was launched.
I would check, but the majority of ones sold now, are 4G compatible.0 -
Well EE's customer service make Three's look good which I didn't think was possible
Oh and don't believe the EE hype on 4g, they struggle to get a 3g signal in most places.0 -
Some good points. I only care about the 4g signal at my house since my internet is only 3.5meg. I get full signal with EE now as well. I'm giving the S3 away to a Korean who might use 4G so I will have to check that. Good point.
I'm going to go with EE as they will let me tether the whole 10gig amount whereas Three limit it to 2gig. I could try and cheat with my VPN but I'd rather not.

If you mean Three's sim only plans tethering is only allowed on The One Plan. The One Plan sim only allows all-you-can-eat tethering but the £12.90 sim only plan mentioned in your OP doesn't allow any tethering.
The 2Gg tether cap is for the new 24 month phone plans that include all-you-can-eat data.0
